Indian Well State Park is a state-owned, public recreation area in the city of Shelton in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States.[3] The state park occupies 153 acres (62 ha) on the west bank of Lake Housatonic, an impoundment of the Housatonic River. Scenic features of the park include a 15-foot (4.6 m) horsetail waterfalls with splash pool at bottom.[4] The park is the scene of annual regattas hosted by the New Haven Rowing Club.[5]

Activities and amenities

The park's recreational opportunities include lifeguard-supervised swimming, picnicking, hiking, boating, and fishing. The park is crossed by the Paugussett Trail, which is part of Connecticut's blue-blazed hiking trail system.[6] A public boat launch provides access to Lake Housatonic.[7] Fish found in the lake include smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white catfish, white perch, yellow perch, American eel, sunfish, and carp.[8] Lake Housatonic is one of the state's 28 "big bass" and "trophy bass" management areas.[9]
