It's Showtime (formerly known as Showtime and Magpasikat) is a noontime musical variety show that premiered on October 24, 2009 on ABS-CBN. The show broadcasts from the ABS-CBN Studios at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center in Quezon City. The show airs Weekdays at 12:15 pm to 3:20 pm, and Saturdays at 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and is mainly presented by Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Billy Crawford, Karylle, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, and Amy Perez. The show is also broadcast worldwide through The Filipino Channel.

It's Showtime is the second live entertainment program in the Philippines to be broadcast in true high-definition picture, after ASAP, sports programs and various shows. It's Showtime is also the longest running noontime variety show of ABS-CBN after Eat Bulaga! (1989-1995), 'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila (1995–1998), MTB (1998-2005), and Wowowee (2005-2010),

History

As Showtime!

On October 24, 2009, Showtime premiered as a morning program, airing before the network's noontime shows, serving as the replacement for Pilipinas, Game KNB? (after its successful 8-year run). The original cast consisted of Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz, and Vice Ganda as the permanent judge. During the third season, the show added previously evicted judges Billy Crawford and Karylle as hosts.

In its first four seasons Showtime had its competition format, wherein three groups, each made up of two to twenty-five members (with no age limit), performed a single performance, whether it is a song and/or dance number. After the group's performance, the judges would give a collective "yes" or "no" to the group. If the judges give a yes, the group is considered part of the main contest, with the judges' scores to the group's performance to be included in the calculation for the winner. A no would, of course, mean exclusion of the group from the main contest. This segment was removed during season 2. In season 3, during the February 16, 2011 episode, the segment returned but no random selection, instead the group automatically performs on stage.

The group with the highest average score from the judges wins and proceeds to the weekly finals. All winners throughout the whole week perform in the weekly finals. Whoever wins in the weekly finals will get the chance to compete in the monthly finals. Lastly, all the monthly finalists compete in a season grand finals.

Aside from the talent competition, Showtime also aired quick and short-termed segments that offer cash prizes to the studio audience. On January 1, 2011, the show was moved temporarily to the noontime slot. It went back to its original timeslot on February 12, 2011 to give way for Happy Yipee Yehey!. On January 28, 2012, the show aired a special episode to end its two-year competition format as Showtime, and ended with an impartial farewell.^[1] On February 6, 2012, it debuted as a reformatted noontime show.^[2][3] It's Showtime was also previously aired on Studio 23 (now ABS-CBN Sports and Action) and CgeTV's website during its relaunch week.

As It's Showtime!

Showtime ended their pre-noontime slot run on January 28, 2012 to prepare for their noontime-reformatted show which premiered on February 6, 2012 on its new timeslot, 11:30 am, replacing former noontime program Happy Yipee Yehey!. The show retained all of its hosts, including Vice Ganda, while adding former judges Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang and Coleen Garcia. Eric Tai was also added as a new host during the pilot episode. It's Showtime aired new long-term segments, while the competitive format returned once again as one of its segments. The competitive format was used for one final season, season five. To cater the entire family audience, a new competition called Bida Kapamilya was introduced on April 30, 2012 as season six. Throughout the run of Bida Kapamilya, It's Showtime added Joy Rendon (May 19, 2012) and Red Bustamante (October 27, 2012) as part of the cast.[5]

Amy Perez and Mariel Rodriguez were added as the show's main hosts on January 2, 2016 after guesting in December 2015. Coleen Garcia was dropped from the program because of her acting career. Eric "Eruption" Tai, meanwhile, left the show to focus on his sports career and married life. Jhong Hilario left the show on March 23, 2016 to run for councilor in Makati City; he reprised his hosting duties on May 10, 2016.

On April 11, 2016, the program was extended until 3:20pm.

2016	TrabaHula/ TrabaHula Level Up / TrabaHula Extreme!	The celebrity player of the day guesses which one of the four madlang workers is the true worker by through analyzing their physical traits, skills and knowledge about the occupation.. If the celebrity player identifies the correct worker, he/she wins P20,000. The true worker also wins P10,000. However, if the player identifies the wrong worker, the P20,000 top prize will be divided equally to the four madlang workers, with the chosen wrong worker receiving an additional P5,000.
	Sinong Nanay Mo?	Three contestants aged 13 to 16 years old compete in a quiz bee type questions in different categories, every correct answer is equivalent to P 1,000. The player who first gets three correct answers wins the game and will be given a medal. The players are accompanied by their parents to support them. The daily winner will comeback the next day to defend his title. If the defending champion successfully defend his title 10 days straight, he will be added to the Honor Roll.
	It's Showtime's Next Tough Model	Models aged 18–25 years old[4] (male or female) compete through a series of unconventional challenges. In the first round, the models introduce themselves and showcase their skills through an obstacle course. In the second round, the contestants must pose with a mystery item. In the last round, or the "Pika-Pika Question", the models must answer a question containing a mystery word. The daily winner receives P15,000 and gets to participate in the weekly competition, while the losing model receives P5,000 as consolation.[5]
	Clash of Champions	As an anniversary special, Clash of Champions invites former champions from the Classic Showtime segment to showcase their talents and compete with each other. The judging panel consists of 3 celebrity judges (who will give 60% of the total score) and 40 audience members (who will give 40% of the total score).
	Call Mo, Prize Mo	In celebration of the show's 7th anniversary, seven lucky home viewers get to receive a cash prize and/or a special gift.
	Pak Ganern Challenge	Audience members (minimum of 2) play Pak Ganern (meaning Yes It Is!, Yes, That's It!, or simply That's It!), a viral renewed and modified Nanay Tatay Filipino children's game popularized by Vice Ganda. The winner of the game receives Php 3,000.
	Boom Pares	Boom Pares is a matching game for home viewers. The objective of the game is to correctly pair the photos of four hosts. At the start of the game, three telephone numbers will be given. The first home viewer to call on each number would potentially get a chance to play the game. A wheel would then determine which phone number will be selected. If the chosen home viewer guesses the program host correctly and/or if he/she pairs the photos of the host/s correctly, he/she wins a gift or a cash prize.
	House Mo, Show Mo: HashTaraNa!	Hashtags members visit random houses to give cash prizes to It's Showtime viewers.
	Drama sa Tanghalan	Drama sa Tanghalan is a sketch comedy skit featuring the segment hosts for Tawag ng Tanghalan and other It's Showtime hosts, judges and guests.
	KemboTitas	Female contestants aged 35 and above[6] compete everyday to showcase their dancing skills on a throwback and modern dance numbers. They are accompanied by one member of the #HashTags.
	The Horns Dance Challenge	Dance groups showcase their own version of a viral dance challenge accompanied by the song "The Horns" by DJ KATCH.
	SingTunado	Two contestants will compete each day. Each contestant will be with a It's Showtime host who will be their "Singing Tunado" which is being portrayed by Mariel Rodriguez- Padilla or Anne Curtis and Ryan Bang. The Singing Tunado will hum a song and the contestant will guess the song being hummed. The contestant will guess 5 songs in one minute. Each time the contestant gets a correct answer, he/she will be given P1,000. The contestant with most number of correct answer wins and will be given an additional P5,000. But in case a tie occurred, the Singing Tunados will be humming together, the first contestant to press the button and answers correctly wins.
	Junior Hashtags	A kiddie competition segment where kids aged 7–12 compete for the Magic 8. In the Weeklong Grand Finals, 4 Grand Finalists compete each day. There are 4 sets of Grand Finalists who will be given a theme for their dance. The winner each day of the Weeklong Grand Finals will have a sure position in the Magic 8. The losers from the 4 sets will come back at the last day to fight for the remaining 4 positions for the Magic 8. The Magic 8 will be the Junior version of Hashtags who will be called "Junior Hashtags."
2015-2016	Pinilakang Tabingi	The hosts perform a comedy sketch on a set tilted 22 degrees.
	Anne Saya Sa Japan	Clips of Anne Curtis' trip to Japan will be shown before the commercial break. Three telephone numbers will then be revealed after the break. The first person (not part of the studio audience) to call on each number would potentially get a chance to answer the hosts' question about Anne's trip. A wheel would determine the lucky phone number. If the chosen person answers the question correctly, he/she wins a cash prize.
	Singing Mo To	This is a segment where the person sings an original song at the live music video. This succeeds Junior Hashtags.
	ARTISTAgisan	In GagamBattle, the hosts form two teams and dress up as giant spiders to play in a life-sized spider fighting match.
	COC: Clash of Celebrities	Clash of Celebrities features different celebrity guest stars competing in different forms of showdown.

	AdVice Ganda	Vice Ganda portrays Madam Bertud to give relationship-related advice to the audience. The segment was originally part of a skit during Sine Mo 'To.
	Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas?	Former AdVice Ganda advice-seeker and Internet sensation "Ms. Pastillas" Angelica Yap participates in a matchmaking segment. "Pastillas Girl" interacts with her admirers from Twitter. Among eight, there were three of them to whom she will choose from (Topher, Mike and Richard) and will be hailed "Mr. Pastillas". In the October 17 episode of the show, Ms. Pastillas chose Richard as her "Mr. Pastillas".
	Ansabe?!	This segment, which name is lifted from the Tagalog question "Ano'ng sabi?" (English: What did you say?), is a guessing game where two contestants will guess a set of words from Prince Bang Hyun Sung (portrayed by Ryan Bang) outside the studio. Since the player would not hear the words, he/she will have to rely on monitor screens to watch the movement of Ryan Bang's mouth. The players are assisted by Lee Min Jhong (portrayed by Jhong Hilario), while Ryan Bang is accompanied by Minister Kim Chi (portrayed by Kim Atienza). Each guessed word is worth P1,000. An additional P5,000 will be given on either of these conditions. Only one contestant have at least one point The score of the contestant is greater than the opponent If both contestants ended as a tie, then it will be based on the remaining time after the last word was guessed. If either one or both contestants fail to guess a word, Kim will receive punishment, which will be determined from a set of cards.
	Rock n' Roll to the World	Funny One grand winner Ryan Rems Sarita shares his so-called "alamat" or his jokes/punchlines in this comedy segment. The title was derived from his famous catchphrase "Rock and Roll to the World!"
	Xia and Kuys	Vhong Navarro and Billy Crawford do various kiddie activities with MiniMe 2 Grand winner, Xiamara Sophia "Xia" Vigor.
	Papa Pogi	"Papa Pogi" is a contest for men with unconventional looks and talents.
	Twerking Girls	This segment features two girl contestants competing to be the best 'twerking' girl.

	Sample Queen	Sample Queen is a talent contest for women from different walks of life.
	Zumba/Retro Bida	A dance competition which consists of 3 groups (with 5-10 members each) and with the help of the resident dance instructor, the hosts will choose 1 person from each group to compete for the P15,000 prize.
	Istoryahan	A sub-segment spun-off from Sine Mo'To wherein hosts are gathered onstage and one of them will tell some tall tale fictional stories and humorous jokes. It is regarded as a "filler segment" that is only produced when warranted in cases that the last segment ends earlier than expected and leaves behind a vacant time (more or less than 15 minutes) before the show ends. It is succeeded by Walang Basagan ng Trip.
	Ang Switch Naman	A newest segment features a woman turns to a man & a man turns into a woman. a segment is similar to combined segments "I Am PoGay" & "That's My Tomboy". He or she will win both P 20,000.
2014-15	Isang Tanong, Isang Milyon	There are 2 rounds in this segment: 1. Elimination Round – There will be 6 contestants which will introduced one-by-one by the hosts. Then the players will give the paper containing names of themselves in the "Bunutan" box. The hosts will pick one contestant name from the box to determine which one of the 6 has the power to the first round of the play. A picked contestant will go to the podium (to the left side of the stage), introduce him/herself and interview (usually after that, they will sing/dance if he/she has a talent). The hosts will pick a category and the contestant with power has the right to choose a player. Like the first contestant, the chosen contestant do the same but this time, they will go to the podium to the other side of the stage. After that, the contestant with power is asked if he/she will play or pass to the other player. If PLAY, the two contestants will have a face off and will copy the pose that Vhong Navarro indicated. Otherwise if PASS, the other contestant will answer the question and if the contestant wins, he/she has the power now. Otherwise the first contestant will have Php 2000 and if this scenario continues, the hosts doubles the money of the first contestant. The last person standing wins Php 20000 + the money that they earned during the rounds and proceed to the jackpot round. If someone loses, they will win nothing or a money they earned during the rounds. 2. Jackpot Round – The winner of Elimination Round will proceed to this round. The hosts of It's Showtime will introduce 8-word cards that will present a mystery question. Each word is represented each letter of the word "SHOWTIME." To give hints, the player will choose 3 cards to open. They have 60 seconds to identify answer the mystery question. If the timer ends, the hosts will receive a final answer. Then the hosts will open the remaining 5 cards to identify the question and the answer. If the answer is correct, they will win the Php 1,000,000 jackpot prize. Otherwise he/she will win the prize from the elimination round.
	PINASikat	PINASikat is the reboot of the classic daily competition(dance) of Showtime. It started in 2nd half of 2014 and showcases wide variety of talent/acts of solo/duo/group performer(s).
	Mini Me / Mini Me 2	Mini Me is a segment for kids aged 9 and below. Each contestant is featured as a mini version of his or her idol celebrity. They are introduced by the hosts while they pose on the left and right side of the stage. Afterwards, they are to perform their chosen talent. The contestants are asked a question to which he or she may relate his or her answer to the audience. The audience rates them as "Good" or "Very Good" by raising placards with these words on either side.
2014	TV Parol	A segment features a human body with the giant Christmas lantern made for the various objects.
	Arte Mo! (2nd Version)	After the Sine Mo 'To segment, this segment is back with the contestants of every single-contestant segment of It's Showtime (e.g. Gandang Babae, MiniMe, I Am Pogay, etc.) with the exception of any talent segment (e.g. PINASikat, Bida Kapamilya, etc.) produced by the show. There are thirty random contestants that will play in a last-man standing game. A multiple choice question about music, television, movies, etc. with four possible answers will be asked to the contestants. A cast member of the show will act a possible answer. Contestants will line up to the answer they think is correct. The last person standing wins ₱20,000.
	Gandang Lalake: Kuma-Career	A new segment features a boy who professionally works as a career boy into an office or a school, it's similar to Gandang Babae but a girl who becomes a new transformation into a beautiful woman, but on Gandang Lalake a boy who become a successful career man. He will win Php 20,000 for the weekly finals.
	Stars on 45 Volume 2	Stars on 45 Volume 2 is a segment featuring contestants aged 45 and over. Contestants sing two songs of their choice. The first is an old-fashioned song and the second is a more modern song. The winners advance to the weekly finals, and then to the grand finals.
	Gandang Babae	A segment features a girl who becomes a new transformation to a beautiful woman, she will be won Php 20,000 for the weekly finals.
	Stars on 45	Stars on 45 is a segment featuring contestants aged 45 and over. Contestants sing two songs of their choice. The first is an old-fashioned song and the second is a more modern song. The winners advance to the weekly finals, and then to the grand finals.
2013	Makina Matibay	a showdown between Makina, composed of an expert who does machine jobs and Mano-Mano, composed of individuals or a group of contestants depending on their number who will do manual jobs for a certain theme object/machine for the week. The challengers will both have 75 seconds to do the job and it will determine who will be the strongest between Men and Machines will be declaring the day's winner. If Mano-Mano wins, they will take home cash prizes, but if Makina wins, the cash prize will increase until the final battle in which the possible amount will take home if it wins on Friday.
	Bida Kapamilya Celebrity Round	Celebrities and their families, friends or relatives will showcase their talents. Two families battle off in the daily performance, but the winners of the daily performance advance to the Saturday semi-finals to determine who will advance to the Grand Finals. Isabelle Granada and her family won as the 1st Bida Kapamilya Celebrity Round Grand Champion, Duncan and Gem Ramos and their family placed as 2nd place and the girl-group from X Factor Philippines called A.K.A. Jam and their family came in 3rd place.
	Bida Kapamilya Round 2	Bida Kapamilya is a competitive family talent competition for the battle of the ₱1,000,000 grand finals prize. Two family groups made up of 5 to 25 members battle each other out with their best family talents. The families share their talents in a group performance called "Hataw Kapamilya". Up to ten points are up for grabs, depending on their average performance score. The family with the most points in the end will win and advance to weekly, monthly, and so forth. The winning family in the eliminations will then choose from a fishbowl their celebrity mentors to train themselves for their next competition (Weekly, Monthly, and if wins, in the Grand Finals).
	Kalokalike Level Up	This is the segment where the semi-finalists and wildcard winners are competing against each other into the "Ultimate Kalokalike Showdown."
	Bida Kids	A special segment where Kid groups will showcase their performance with the three hurados: two kids and one resident hurado, Jhong Hilario. The best kid group in the Grand Finals may win P500,000.
	Bida Kabarkada	The Top 12 Dance Crews were chosen from different parts of the Philippines for an ultimate dance showdown to be the first Bida Kabarkada Grand Winner.. 	Tandang Pananong	Plays on weekdays, this game is composed of two pairs: one grandparent and one eldest child ages from 8 years or younger per team. Before the game proper, grandparents may look at the featured objects found in each question by the hosts and dancers. The main hosts will ask a question first and the eldest child may press the buzzer to answer, after which, the grandparent from the answered team may choose from the boxes containing the exact object answered by the eldest child earlier within 10 seconds. If the exact object is right, they will earn one point, but if it is wrong, no point. The team gets 3 points will win P20,000, while the losing team will take home P5,000.
	Kalokalike	Kalokalike, is an impersonator talent competition in which three contestants compete for their best imitation of a local or foreign personality. Each impersonate is introduced by one by one with an introduction, a monologue and a talent performance. The audience will then raise the Kalokalike card if they are impressed or the Kaloka if they are not. The impersonater with the most Kalokalikes between the three hurados will win P20,000 and will move on to the next round. During Kalokalike Face 1, minor awards were given to the finalists before the announcement of the winners. The recipient of each award receives P20,000. Kumarir Award – this award is given to the one who lived like the one he/she is impersonating – Julia Montes Trending Award – this award is given to the one who made noise in the social media – Justin Bieber BFF Award – the "Miss/Mister Congeniality" term for The Ultimate KalokaLike Showdown – Christopher de Leon Who's Who Award – this award is given to the one who looks like the one he/she is impersonating on both photographs and television – Christopher de Leon Texter's Choice Award – the poll was opened after the last finalist was revealed. It ended after everyone got done with their final performance. This award will be given to the one who got the most votes through text – Vice Ganda In "Face 2", the Ultimate Kalokalike was the look alike of Nicki Minaj.
	Pinoy Halo-Halo	This segment is open to Filipinos who are foreign-blooded (Half-Filipino, Half-Foreign) and are ready to share their talents and their stories. Three Judges will judge the performances of Filipino-Foreigners. The performer who gets the most scores from the Judges wins P20,000 and advances to the succeeding rounds (Weekly and eventually, Grand Finals)
	Jambunganga	An A cappella singing competition where presents A cappella groups ranging from 5–12 members who can do a song without any instruments but only human voices. The best a cappella group will win P50,000 and advances to the succeeding rounds (Weekly, Semi-finals and eventually, Grand Finals)
2012-2015	Sine Mo 'To	Sine Mo' To is Showtime's sketch comedy segment, which parodies different topics, originally-written stories and personalities. A minimum of three audience members are chosen each day to play a role in the skit. At the end of the segment, these audience players will receive a prize in the form of money based on their performance. 2012	Pitik Bulag	In Pitik Bulag, two teams of three contestants battle out in a team versus team game. The game starts off with a rock-paper-scissors game to find out the team to start answering the first question. The first team to answer three question correctly will earn ₱30,000.
	Rock the Clock	In Rock the Clock hosted by Kuya Kim, the winner of Arte Mo! will compete in a fast-paced trivial game to have a chance to win the ₱500,000 jackpot prize. The contestant must first choose one of the offered cash cards, which contain the number of seconds they will have in the game. There are two sixty second cards, two seventy-five-second cards, and one ninety second card. Once they choose a cash card, they will face a game board containing fifteen pictures, each symbolizing a topic question. Each question will also have a random peso amount, totaling the board to ₱500,000. Before the game begins, the contestant can reorder their first row's topics to potentially answer the questions faster. Now the game begins and the clock will stop after they finish each row. At the end of the three rows, they will win whatever is in their earnings. Hence, if they answer all questions correctly, they will win ₱500,000.
	Havey o Waley	This segment features all the hosts and co-hosts wherein they would reveal the object of the day. A random audience member will be given the chance to make a joke relating to the object. The audience would decide whether the joke is "havey o waley" (lit. funny or not) for which they would win a certain prize for participating. The game is only played if there is spare time.
	Classic Showtime	The talent portion of the show remains from the original Showtime, encouraging auditioned groups to showcase their talents, competing with other groups until they are the last ones standing. This time in the reformat, Vice and Jhong are the resident Hurados, meaning they cannot be evicted. Three celebrity Hurados will complete the judging panel and as usual, would face the public vote for every Saturday. Also new is that the winning group this time will win a grand prize of ₱3,000,000. Two different groups will compete against each other every day, with the winner of the day receiving ₱100,000 for their group and hometown.
	The Singing V	The Singing V is a singing game that is a light spin-off from the hit Kapamilya game show, The Singing Bee. The winner from the Arte Mo! round will advance to the game and will choose one of the guest judges from Classic Showtime as their back-up. The contestant must consistently finish missing lyrics to a particular song. They have five seconds to finish each "race". There are three races in order to accumulate the ₱100,000 grand prize. If the duo fails to complete the race, they will end the game with half of their banked winnings, a random studio audience would also receive ₱10,000 through a ballot. 	'Yan Ang Showtime	A Special Interest segment where every week, the featured host will have different topics each day ranging from Cooking, Tips and interesting Trivia, and other things to be featured.
	Dark Dreamer	After the Arte Mo! segment, there will be a person behind a silhouette, showcasing their talent in no more than 5 minutes (on Tuesday). On Saturday, the person behind the silhouette will reveal themselves. The segment is a chance to promote their gigs and venues as well as the chance for talent scouts to recognise their talent.
	Arte Mo! (1st Version)	There are thirty random contestants that will play in a last-man standing game. A multiple choice question about music, television, movies, etc. with four possible answers will be asked to the contestants. A cast member of the show will act a possible answer. Contestants will line up to the answer they think is correct. The last person standing wins ₱10,000 and advance to Showtime Goodtime jackpot round.
	Showtime Goodtime	Showtime's newest jackpot round for the winner of Arte Mo! There are eight letters that complete the word "Showtime" with each letter having a corresponding amount. S with ₱20,000, H with ₱35,000, O with ₱50,000, W with ₱75,000, T with ₱100,000, I with ₱150,000, M with ₱250,000 and E with ₱1 million pesos. There are two types of balls one bearing the letters "ITS" while the other has an "X" in it. The contestant needs to get the "ITS" ball through a raffle wheel in order to advance to the next letter, after every letter, the contestant is given an option to proceed with "Showtime" or leave with the cash prize they've earned with "Goodtime" if the contestant keeps proceeding and get two "X" balls, the game is over and they only get what he/she won in Arte Mo!

	Magpasikat	Showtime also showcased performances from local and international celebrities in a talent portion.
	Kantaranta	The show's presenters would play a song and then asking random audience members to fill in the missing lyric/s. The audience members who guessed correctly would win P1000 each and move on to the Bonus Round, where they get to play for ₱5,000.

2010–2011	I Know U	A quiz portion wherein 25 random audience members will participate in the game. There will 5 stations composed of 5 members each, vying for the ₱20,000 pesos cash prize.
	Hulihin ang Bituin, Kampihan Kapamilya	This segment was hosted by K Brosas and Pooh and aired in Saturdays and pre-taped in barangays. Fifty contestants battle out in mini-games for ₱100,000. There are six types of mini-games whether it is simply correctly identifying a played song, or taking part in a physical dare. After the cancellation of Pilipinas Win Na Win, this segment was carried over for a few more weeks. The Grand Draw of Hulihin ang Bituin was held January 22, drawn 4 winners of ₱100,000 and 1 winner of ₱1,000,000 from all entries sent nationwide during the promo period.
	Sample Sample Sample	Sample! Sample! Sample! is a segment wherein contestants can showcase their talents to the judges and audience. Whoever wins either an individual, duo, or group win ₱20,000 based on judges' highest average score and comes back the next day as a defending winner. If the contestants' win streak is at least three days, they automatically win ₱100,000 and a chance to compete in the segment's grand finals. The first grand finals was held on December 25, 2010 and the second grand finals was held on February 5, 2011.
2011	Arte Mo!	In the Arte Mo! elimination round, fifty random contestants (ten from a local city and forty from the studio audience) play in a last-man standing game. A multiple choice question about music, television, movies, etc. with four possible answers will be asked to the contestants. A cast member of the show will act a possible answer. Contestants will line up to the answer they think is correct. The last person standing wins ₱10,000 and advances to the I Know U jackpot round for a chance to win ₱200,000. The segment discontinued due to time limitation.
	Magpasikat: Gig 'Mo To!	This musical segment runs every Saturday featuring unsigned bands performing.

Competition

One of the major concepts of the Showtime series airing throughout the whole run is the competition, in which talent groups compete against each other in a tournament for the grand finals.

Everyday there are winner/s which will compete in the Weekly Finals, the winner/s in the Weekly Finals will directly be one the finalists for the Monthly Finals. The winner/s in the Monthly Finals will compete in the Grand Finals.

Wildcard Week

The best groups that either did not make it to the monthly finals or was in the monthly finals but lost got another chance to compete again in order to win a slot to the Grand Finals. This was called the Wildcard Week. During the week, the main hosts got to switch roles (except for Vice Ganda who still got to be a judge).

In season one, Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, and Kim Atienza got the role of being the judges, Teddy and Jugs got the role of hosts/interviewers, and the longest-staying judge Jhong Hilario got the role of introducing the group contestants. At the Wildcard Finals that was aired on July 23, 2010, the groups XB Gensan and Boyz Unlimited Dancers tied in the competition and became the 10th and 11th finalist to compete in the Grand Finals.

In season two, Vhong Navarro, and Kim Atienza including Jhong Hilario got the role of being the judges, Teddy and Jugs got the role of hosts/interviewers, and ex-judge Bianca Manalo got the role of introducing the group contestants. Anne Curtis returned on the Wednesday episode but she still had her spot as host/interviewer and did not join the judging panel. On the Thursday and Friday episodes respectively, Anne replaced Vhong Navarro as judge since he was absent. At the Wildcard Finals that was aired on December 17, 2010, the group Ground Zero won the competition and became the 10th finalist to compete in the Grand Finals.

In season three, Vice Ganda joined Vhong Navarro in hosting the show while Karylle, Kim Atienza, Billy Crawford, Jugs and Teddy, and Anne Curtis became the judges. At the Wildcard Finals that was aired on May 13, 2011, the group The Next Level Octomix Dancers and Street Noize tied the competition and became the 11th and 12th finalist to compete in the Grand Finals.

In season four, Vhong, Billy and Vice reprise the role as a host/interviewer while Kim, Karylle, Jugs & Teddy, Anne and Showtime resident choreographers Mel Feliciano, May Francisco and Showtime Dancers will take their spot as a judges. Ex-judge Georgina Wilson took over as a host/interviewer in lieu of Vice Ganda due to his absence for two days. The Wildcard Finals was aired on December 5, 2011. It was the first time that the Wildcard Finals was extended into four different groups in one episode who did not make it in either the daily, weekly or monthly finals. The groups Prime Machine and UDC tied the competition and became the 13th and 14th finalist to compete in the Grand Finals.

Kids Edition

This week was dedicated to the children called "Showtime: Kids Edition". During the week, kid group performers were the ones who would show their talents and also kids were the audience. Nash Aguas and Sharlene San Pedro were the special kid judges that joined the judging panel. No voting of judges for eviction during the week. At the end of the week, a finals was held where the winner here is the Showtime Kids Edition Champion. The kid group "Cea's Angels" won and became Showtime Kids Edition Champion, but they were not eligible to go to the monthly finals with the regular performers. But during Season 3 Summer Special, Nash and Sharlene reprises the role as kid judges receptively together with selected Goin Bulilit kids during April 4 to 9-week long kids group competition. In Season 4, Krista Kleiner, Katya Santos and Goin' Bulilit Kids were the special judges that joined the judging panel. No voting of judges for eviction during the week on December 19 to 23-week long kids group competition. At the end of competition the kid group "JPS Dance Crew" won of P200,000 and 2nd Showtime Kids Edition Champion.

Campus Clash Edition

The Campus Clash Edition features group performances of all school levels (Elementary, High School & College/Universities). Jhong Hilario, Gabriel Valenciano, Lauren Young, and Gretchen Fullido were the season's judges. The winning group received P 1 million in cash plus P 500,000 for the school campus. The Campus Clash Edition lasted for only a month, which took place in January 2012.

Grand Sample Finals

This was the Grand Finals of the segment "Sample! Sample! Sample!" of Showtime held at Studio 2 of ABS-CBN. Five contestants called "Grand Sampolistas" performed their talents to the judges and the audience to become Showtime's First Grand Sample Champion. The longest remaining judge Ryan Bang acted as the guest host due to Vice Ganda's absence. The special set of judges for the Grand Sample Finals were former Showtime judges Dimples Romana, Carmen Soo, Bianca Manalo, and Gladys Reyes. At the end of the episode, Grand Sampolista #5 Remiel Galeno from Caloocan emerged as the winner of the competition. He won the grand prize of P100,000 and became the 1st Grand Sample Champion with a final average score of 9.8 pts. On February 5, 2011, the second Grand Finals was held along with the Week 5 weekly finals. The judges of Week 5 (except Vice Ganda) are the ones who made the difficult task of judging the 4 Grand Sampolistas. Grand Sampolista #4 Red & Pink, a duo group from Quezon City emerged as the winner and became the 2nd Grand Sample Champion with a final average score of 10 pts. They won the grand prize of P100,000 and the first ever duo group to win the competition.

All-Star Barangayan

Signaling the return of Showtime to its regular timeslot, the main competition of the show showcased various talents from groups of different barangays. The first competition was held on February 12, 2011. The guest hurados were news personalities Ted Failon, Gus Abelgas, Pinky Webb and Karen Davila. The episode also welcomed two new co-hosts for the show: singers Billy Crawford and Karylle.

Holy Week special

In honor of Holy Week, Showtime suspended the daily performances and reflected on the best highlights since the show's launch. Also, the hosts looked back at the previous groups who performed at the show and what they gave back positively in this special time of the year. However, in 2012, It's Showtime continued to air live for the next three days with a special letter sender segment with the usual "Arte Mo" and "Singing V". In 2013, a drama special was held in place of its usual format, featuring stories of Bida Kapamilya finalists as portrayed by Showtime hosts under the helm of TV directors. The drama special again in 2014, featuring stories of stars of 45 finalists as portrayed by Showtime hosts under the helm of TV directors including the interviews to the winners. In 2015, the drama special about the stories of PINASikat and I Am Pogay finalists as portrayed by Showtime hosts under the helm of TV directors including the interviews to the contestants as well as musical performances by Karylle, Noel Cabangon, Kyla, Jason Dy, Erik Santos and Darren Espanto. In 2016, the drama special returns again this year with new faces are Mariel Rodriguez-Padiila, & Amy Perez-Castillo, The Hashtags, The Girltrends & Former Paranaque City Mayor & Comedian Joey Marquez.

It's Showtime Pa-Star Awards

This segment award is a parody of Star Awards showcasing the host who were acted in an occasionally lenten drama scene, It was first awarded in March 2016.

Christmas week special

This week had contestants that must have a Christmas theme in their performances. This week had special guest judges who will judge the contestants this week. The special set of judges included TV Patrol reporter Marc Logan, Miss Universe 2010's 4th runner-up Maria Venus Raj and Pilipinas Got Talent judges Comedy concert queen Ai-Ai Delas Alas and Philippines' Queen of all Media Kris Aquino. The weekly finals was aired on December 24, 2010, and the all-girl group Ephesians won the competition.

Summer special

The show had its month-long summer special, featuring talents of various groups each week. The 1st week featured All-Girl groups while the audience and Guest Hurados were All-Boys; the 2nd week featured All-Boy Groups while the audience and Guest Hurados were All-Girls; the 3rd week featured All-Kid groups, guest hurados and audiences. The next three weeks were a battle between Boy Groups vs. Girl Groups vs. Kid Groups and the Monthly Finals were on the last week.

Show anniversaries

The show's 1st anniversary (October 18–23, 2010), a special episode celebrating Showtime's first anniversary. The contestants consisted of the hosts with ex-hurados and guests. Jugs and Teddy's group with Yeng Constantino, Marc Abaya and Kean Cipriano, Kuya Kim's group with Alessandra De Rossi and Gloc-9, Anne Curtis' group with singers Robert Sena, Led Sobrepeña III and Bugoy Drilon, Vhong Navarro's group with Jhong Hilario, Archie Alemania, Izzy Canillo and Bugoy Carino and Vice Ganda's group with beauty queens Precious Lara Quigaman and Miriam Quiambao. The groups were judged by a special set of celebrity hurados namely returning judge Gladys Reyes, Gary Valenciano, Luis Manzano, Arnel Pineda, and the Kimerald loveteam of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. At the end of the episode, the winner of the competition was the group of Jugs and Teddy.^[12]

The show's 2nd anniversary (October 17–22, 2011), the show suspends daily competitions for the hosts to show their hidden talents and became contestants themselves. Two hosts will perform each day and they will be judged by a special set of hurados (Celebrity doctors Manny Calayan and Vicki Belo, Director Cathy Garcia-Molina, "Queen of Fragrances" Joel Cruz and Celebrity fashion designer Liz Uy). In the second anniversary, some of former contestants/groups and judges performing from the previous season to introduce their second anniversary week including showtime's game segments like Kantaranta, Arte Mo! and I know U!. On October 22, Anne Curtis won the competition getting a perfect score of 10 from all the hurados and received P100,000 which she donated to a charity. Billy Crawford and Vice Ganda were the runners-up and received P50,000 each for their chosen charities.^[13]

The show's 3rd anniversary (October 22–27, 2012), the show had no competition so far after the Bida Kapamilya finals was held. This time, the hosts were grouped into pairs, after their solo performances 2 years back. These pairs showed their hidden talents as contestants themselves. There were one or two pairs to perform each day and it was determined by the special set of hurados (actress Eula Valdez, talent manager Alfie Lorenzo and his wife Angge, actor-singer Jericho Rosales and veteran actress Maricel Soriano). At the end of the week, teams Anne & Karylle, Jugs & Teddy, and Billy & Vhong all had perfect scores for a triple tie, and each won P100,000 prize money to their chosen charity.

The show's 4th anniversary (October 21–26, 2013), the show clebrated its fourth anniversary. Once again, the hosts were grouped into pairs or trios and they showed their hidden talents as contestants. They were judged by a special set of hurados (comedy actress Ai-Ai de las Alas, TV hosts Amy Perez and Ruffa Gutierrez, and singers Robert Seña and Isay Alvarez-Seña). At the end of the week, 3rd place went to Team Billy, Vhong and Coleen; 2nd place went to Team Vice and Kuya Kim (Vice performed as a solo in place for his partner Kuya Kim in time to take his rest after his successful recovery at the hospital) and the Grand Championship went to Team Teddy, Karylle and Jugs. For all winning cash prizes, half of the prize went to the victims of the Visayas earthquake through ABS-CBN's relief arm Sagip Kapamilya, while the other half went to their chosen charity.

The show's 5th anniversary (October 20–25, 2014), revived a previous segment "Arte Mo!" while "Sine Mo'To" featured sequels to past stories that had been told in the segment. The hosts once more were grouped into pairs or trios, and one team performed during the 5-day competition period. The performers were judged by a special set of hurados (singer Pops Fernandez, former APO Hiking Society member and social media activist Jim Paredes, and actress Cherie Gil). At the end of the competition, the 3rd place prize went to Anne and Coleen, who performed a two-woman band and acrobatic stunts; 2nd place went to Vhong and Jhong, who performed a skit about their friendship that resulted in a work of art featuring their faces; and the Grand Championship went to the trio of TBJ-Teddy, Billy and Jugs, who did a mock game show and took home one audience member P90,000. The winning team's cash prizes went to their chosen beneficiaries, while the two non-winning teams also took home P50,000 for their chosen beneficiaries.

The show's 6th anniversary (October 19–24, 2015), Once again, the hosts were grouped into pairs or trios and will showcase their special talents in a 5-day competition period (One team per day). The performers will be judged by a group of this year's hurados, divided into three pairs: Sakto tandem Amy Perez and Marc Logan, original heartthrobs Tirso Cruz III and Edgar Mortiz and Forevermore loveteam BangLi Bangky and Lilia Cuntapay. At the end of the week, third place goes to the group of Anne, Kuya Kim and Eruption who did an impressive performance on the environment, plus Kuya Kim's hair was shaved on Live TV towards the end of their performance which imparted the message itself about climate change. Second place goes to the group of Karylle and Jhong who did an all-original mini-musical skit. Team Vice-Jugs-Teddy was the grand champion, which marks Vice Ganda's first championship. The trio did an optical illusion, which has never been done on any live program, and sang to the tune of their original composition. Each of the winning teams get P100,000; P200,000; and P300,000 respectively for their chosen charities.

The show's 7th anniversary (October 17–22, 2016), the hosts as well as the members of Hashtags and Griltrends were grouped into pairs or trios and will showcase their special talents in a 5-day competition period (One team per day). The performers were judged by Mel Villena, Precious Lara Quigaman, Nick Olanka, Jolina Magdangal and Senator Sonny Angara.

Best of Showtime/It's Showtime

In 2010, that the show held its first year-end special week. This was hosted by Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta and Vice Ganda. This week highlighted the best and funniest scenes and performances of the contestants, judges, and hosts since the start of Showtime.

In 2011, the show held its year-end special week. Like the previous year, the host highlighted the best and funniest scenes and performances of the contestants, judges, and hosts since the start of Showtime combined season 3 & 4 respectively.

In 2012, the show held its year-end special week for only four days after their Christmas special. This year highlights the best and funniest scenes and performances of the contestants, judges, and hosts of It's Showtime for the past 11 months since its debuted on the noontime slot in February of the same year.

In 2013, the show held its year-end special for only 3 days. This year highlights were featured some of the former contestants and various performers in the show.

In 2014, the show held its year-end special for only 4 days for their 5th anniversary of It's Showtime. This year highlights were featured some of the former contestants and various performers in the show, and also their post 5th anniversary of the show.

In 2015, the show held its year-end special for only 3 days after their Christmas Special. This year highlights featured some of the former contestants, former segments and various performers in the show, their 6th anniversary kick-off, their Magpasikat performances, and anniversary special of the show.

Thanksgiving episode

On January 28, 2012, the day after the finals of the Campus Clash Edition, the show aired a special episode wherein they gave thanks to its loyal viewers through different performances by past contestants and winners. The episode also featured the show's staff and the previous judges and their contributions to the show's success. The episode ended ambiguously with the hosts exiting the stage while entering an arc decorated with words giving thanks to the viewers. The episode caused quite a stir to fans and online users as many speculated that Showtime was cancelled. It was hinted in the show that followed its timeslot, Happy Yipee Yehey!, during a cold opening sketch done by its main hosts that Showtime will only say goodbye for a week while it was HYY saying goodbye forever. This was proven in the following news reports that HYY was indeed cancelled and the relaunched Showtime will replace it under the title It's Showtime.

Finals Week

This was the first time that instead of the usual format which is after the wildcard finals will be the Grand Finals itself, The show had its Finals Week, which the viewers will get to know the finalists right before the actual Grand Finals. In October 15–19, 2012, 9 finalists for Bida Kapamilya were introduced for the entire week. These family teams are joined by their celebrity mentors to train themselves and to motivate each family teams.

Reception

Ratings

Showtime's first grand finals last July 24, 2010 garnered a 35% national rating based on Kantar Media Philippines, beating 8.9% of Diz Iz It! and 13.7% of Eat Bulaga!^[14]

It's Showtime scored a 13.6% national rating when it made its debut on the noontime slot on February 6, 2012.^[15] The episode received an overall 16.3% rating when the viewership numbers from Studio 23 were added. Initially placing behind Eat Bulaga!, the show's rating peaked to 20.9% national rating during the final of the Bida Kapamilya segment and its third anniversary week-long celebration.^[16][17]

The final of the Kalokalike segment garnered a whopping 26.8% national rating last June 2, 2013, leaving Eat Bulaga! and Wowowillie with 13.2% and 2.8% ratings, respectively.^[18] The final of the segment's second iteration posted a 21.6% national rating, once again beating Eat Bulaga! and Wowowillie with 15.8% and 2.6% ratings, respectively.^[19]

It's Showtime continued its dominance in the noontime slot with its fourth anniversary week special held from October 21–26, 2013.^[20][21]

Controversies

MTRCB suspension

Showtime was suspended by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for 20 days. This was due to comments uttered by guest judge Rosanna Roces against certain groups, especially on teachers, heard live on January 7, 2010. As a form of self-regulation, ABS-CBN relieved Roces of her jury duty, but suspension was still served against the show effective January 11, 2010, thus returning on February 1. In the meantime, a placeholder show called Magpasikat took over Showtime's timeslot.^[22] The show had essentially the same format as with Showtime, except that the competing groups were composed of celebrities.

The suspension period, however, lasted only for six days after the Court of Appeals issued a 60-day temporary restraining order against the MTRCB on January 15, 2010. The issuance of the order, and therefore the return of Showtime was announced later in Magpasikat.^[23][24][25]

On March 26, 2010, MTRCB ordered a total one-month suspension of the program because of the incident, including the replacement Magpasikat. The MTRCB also directed the filing of criminal charges against Florida Tan, ABS-CBN vice-president for programming, and other officers "responsible for the violation."^[26] Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN's Corporate Communications said that the suspension is not yet final and that they are seeking appeal before the Office of the President.^[27] However the said variety show wins the case due to the MTRCB has not presented new arguments that would justify a reversal of its previous resolution.^[28][29]

"Pastillas Girl" controversy

"Nasaan Ka Mr. Pastillas?" was a daily reality-dating game serial which drew the ire of netizens and women's group Gabriela. Due to various complaints from online social networking sites, MTRCB summoned the show's executives to discuss the said portion. After a thorough investigation, MTRCB imposed "self-regulation" on It's Showtime due to the segment.

Tours

In 2010, Showtime held live shows from February 1 to 6 in Cebu. Voting for judges were suspended as Sheryn and Gab Valenciano stepped in as special judges. The program also had a special episode featuring highlights from the One Kapamilya Go event at the Great America in Santa Clara, CA which took place on September 12, 2010. The special episode aired on October 7, 2010 exclusively on The Filipino Channel. The special judges consisted of Pooh, Angelica Panganiban, Michael Copon, Gelo of Barangay USA and Vice Ganda.

In 2011, Showtime visited Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In 2013, the It's Showtime hosts performed in Honolulu, Hawaii for their day-long concert tour.

In 2014, the It's Showtime hosts performed in Canada as a part of the program's fifth anniversary celebration.

In 2015, It's Showtime kicked off its month-long sixth anniversary celebration at the Araneta Coliseum. The program also toured at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna and Hoops Dome in Cebu.
