Islands is an American animated miniseries based on the show Adventure Time by Pendleton Ward. It will air as part of the show's eighth season on Cartoon Network, sometime during the winter of 2016/2017. Adventure Time follows the adventures of Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada), a human boy, and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio), a dog with magical powers to change shape, grow and shrink at will.

Production

The second Adventure Time miniseries, entitled Islands, is slated to air during the winter of 2016/2017.[1] This event was first hinted at when, prior to the airing of the first Adventure Time miniseries Stakes, head story writer Kent Osborne revealed that the show would likely produce several more miniseries.[2] Later, when its was announced that the series would end in 2018, the official press release stated that prior to the show's ending there would be "new episodes, mini-series, specials and more".[3] In October 2016, it was announced that the stand-alone comic book, Islands, written by series' storyline writer Ashly Burch functions as a prequel to the miniseries.[1]

The Islands miniseries is scheduled to be released on DVD on January 24, 2017.[4]
