Pinagsama (Tagalog: [pinag'sama], officially the Barangay Government of Pinagsama Filipino: Pamahalaang Barangay ng Pinagsama), is a highly urbanized Barangay located in western portion of Taguig City in the Philippines. From a thriving residential-commercial community along C5 road CP Garcia Avenue, it is now an important residential, commercial and industrial center. Pinagsama is the second most populous Barangay in the City of Taguig with a total population of 57,343 in 2015. (Barangay Western Bicutan is the most populous with the population of 91,158 in 2015) [1]

The Barangay Government of Pinagsama administers McKinley Hill, which is considered as one of the city's central business areas alongside Bonifacio Global City and the soon-to-rise Arca South.

Barangay Pinagsama is bordered by Barangay Fort Bonifacio to the north, Barangay Central Signal Village to the southeast, Barangay North Signal Village to the east, Barangay Ususan on the northeast and Western Bicutan on the west and southwest. Pinagsama Creek, a tributary of the Taguig River cuts through the northern half of Pinagsama and Ususan, also a tributary of the Ilog Taguig forms the common border of Pinagsama and Ususan.

Etymology

Barangay Pinagsama, a commercial-residential barangay belonging to District II is considered as one of the biggest barangays of Taguig in both land area and population having a total land area of 191.3 hectares and a population of almost 60,000. It is bounded by C5 Road CP Garcia Ave., Lawton Avenue and Bayani Road.

It was once a sprawling lowland with a musky and grassy surroundings, filled with people of different Filipino sub-culture united with one vision for the community. Barangay Pinagsama was originated from Barangay Western Bicutan having been officially separated in 2009 by virtue of R.A. 7160 also known as the Local Government Code of the Philippines of 1991, section 385, empowering the Sangguniang Panlunsod of Taguig City to pass City Ordinance Nr. 67 S-2008 dated September 15, 2008 creating a new Barangay Pinagsama in Taguig City.

Pinagsama is a cradle of many active and veteran soldiers and leaders. The Barangay got its name out of the adjoining existence of territorial villages, combined thus naming it (PINAGSAMA- Filipino translation for combined/united) AFP EP Village Phase 1 and Phase 2; Pinagsama Village Phase 1 and Phase 2; Philippine Army Officers’ Village (PAOVILLE) and the McKinley Hill including the Seven Villages of BHITZ or Bonifacio Housing, Industrial and Technological Zone, consisting of the following villages: Wildcat Village; 16th ISU Village, ISG Central Village; G2 Village; Upper West Village; PANAM Village; PALAR Village to compose the new Barangay. Prior to its creation, a Plebiscite was conducted supervised by the Commission on Elections, resulting to a majority votes of the qualified voters of Barangay Western Bicutan on December 18, 2008 to an overwhelming "YES" votes in favor of the creation of the New Barangay.

Inside its territorial jurisdiction are: the Maria Reyna ng mga Apostoles Parish—a Catholic church located in Pinagsama Village Phase 2, The Headquarters of the Philippine Army (HPA), Army General Hospital and Security and Escort Battalion (SEB). Meanwhile, the Heritage Park and Philippine-Korean Friendship Center, popular landmarks of the Barangay are located in Bayani Road (MRT Ave.).

Best known for its beautiful modern tourist destinations, Barangay Pinagsama is home to the Venice Grand Canal Mall, British Embassy, Korean Embassy, Embassy pf the State of Qatar and the Embassy of UAE, International Schools and Colleges located in McKinley Hill. It has been called "The International Gateway of Taguig City".
