Belden is a census-designated place (CDP) in Plumas County, California, United States.[3] Belden is located on the North Fork Feather River, 7 miles (11.3 km) southwest of Caribou.[4] The population was 22 at the 2010 census, down from 26 in 2000.
History
The Belden post office opened in 1909.[4] The name honors Robert Belden, its first postmaster.[4]
Geography
Belden is located at 40°0′23″N 121°15′9″W / 40.00639°N 121.25250°W (40.006439, -121.252546).[5]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), of which 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (15.95%) is water.

The 2010 United States Census[6] reported that Belden had a population of 22. The population density was 30.3 people per square mile (11.7/km²). The racial makeup of Belden was 20 (90.9%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 0 (0.0%) Native American, 0 (0.0%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 0 (0.0%) from other races, and 2 (9.1%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0 persons (0.0%).
The Census reported that 22 people (100% of the population) lived in households, 0 (0%) lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 0 (0%) were institutionalized.
There were 13 households, out of which 2 (15.4%) had children under the age of 18 living in them, 1 (7.7%) were opposite-sex married couples living together, 0 (0%) had a female householder with no husband present, 2 (15.4%) had a male householder with no wife present. There were 2 (15.4%) unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 0 (0%) same-sex married couples or partnerships. 8 households (61.5%) were made up of individuals and 2 (15.4%) had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.69. There were 3 families (23.1% of all households); the average family size was 2.33.

As of the census[7] of 2000, there were 26 people, 13 households, and 5 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 40.6 people per square mile (15.7/km²). There were 36 housing units at an average density of 56.3 per square mile (21.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 13 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 30.8% were married couples living together, and 61.5% were non-families. 38.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.00 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 19.2% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 50.0% from 25 to 44, 15.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 110.0 males.

In the state legislature Belden is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Ted Gaines,[8] and the 1st Assembly District, represented by Republican Brian Dahle.[9]
Federally, Belden is in California's 1st congressional district, represented by Republican Doug LaMalfa.[10]
