Konch is a city and a municipal board in Jalaun district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Konch is now developing as per the present scenario. It is one of the center of business in district Jalaun. It is a city with its history back in Ramayan era, this place has also been described in Vedas as a place famous for Presence of a number of Kronch birds. It has India's shortest (14 km) broad gauge railway line between Konch and Ait known as 'Addah'. It is 28(approx.) km far from the city of Orai, the biggest and the brightest spot in Jalaun.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[1] Konch had a population of around 78,587. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Konch has an average literacy rate of 65%, more than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 60%. In Konch, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Famous events

Konch is famous for oldest tradition of Ramlila play and Dussehra festival celebration.

The Ramlila play is 160 year old and also has its name in Limca book of world records.
