KYGA (97.5 FM, "Air 1") is a non-commercial Christian rock music radio station in Goleta, California.

History

KYGA signed on in 1957 with the call letters KRCW. In 1965, the call letters changed to KTMS-FM. In time, the station would go through format changes and call sign changes before becoming a top 40 station branded as "Y97" with the KHTY call letters. In 1998, the station switched to a smooth jazz format. In March 2005, Cumulus decided to move the smooth jazz format to 106.3 KMGQ. The modern adult contemporary format on KRUZ 103.3 was then moved to this station. As a result, the station changed its call letters to KRUZ.

On December 1, 2012 at 12 midnight, KRUZ changed their format to Air 1's Christian Rock format as a result of a pending sale by Cumulus Media to Educational Media Foundation.[1] The call sign was changed to KYGA the same day. The station now broadcasts hit music from Christian artists such as Chris Tomlin, TobyMac, and Kristian Stanfill.
