At present it currently holds the unique record of being the longest daily running train in India covering 3118 km in almost 68 hours ( ~3 days)

It operates as train number 15909 from Dibrugarh to Lalgarh Junction and as train number 15910 in the reverse direction serving the 9 states of Assam, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Avadh Assam Express was initially launched between Lucknow Jn and Guwahati in late eighties.

The 15909 / 10 Dibrugarh Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express presently has 1 AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper Class, General Unreserved & sitting cum luggage rack coaches. In addition, it doesn't carries a Pantry car coach & up to High Capacity Parcel Vans.

Routeing

The 15909 / 10 Dibrugarh Lalgarh Junction Avadh Assam Express runs from Dibrugarh via Dimapur, Limding Junction, Guwahati, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Barauni Junction, Chhapra, Gorakhpur Junction, Lucknow NR, Bareilly, Delhi Junction, Rohtak Junction, Bhatinda Junction, Suratgarh Junction to Lalgarh Junction.

It reverses direction of travel at Bhatinda Junction.

Traction

As large parts of the route are yet to be electrified, a Siliguri based WDP 4B is the traditional designated power for its entire journey.

Timings

15909 Dibrugarh Lalgarh Awadh Assam Express leaves Dibrugarh on a daily basis at 9:20 hrs IST and reaches Lalgarh Junction at 05:45 hrs IST on the 4th day.

15910 Lalgarh Dibrugarh Awadh Assam Express leaves Lalgarh Junction on a daily basis at 19:45 hrs IST and reaches Dibrugarh at 16:25 hrs IST on the 4th day.
