The 2016–17 Stanford Cardinal men's basketball team represent Stanford University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cardinal are led by first year head coach Jerod Haase. They play their home games at Maples Pavilion and are members of the Pac-12 Conference.

Previous Season

The 2015–16 Stanford Cardinal basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 15–15, and 8–10 in conference play. The Cardinal lost in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. Stanford missed postseason all together for the first time since 2011.

Off-season

On March 14, Head coach Johnny Dawkins was fired after 8 seasons. On March 25, Jerod Haase was hired.
