The Mighty Underdogs is an American Hip hop supergroup from San Francisco Bay Area.[1] It consists of rappers Gift of Gab from Blackalicious and Lateef the Truthspeaker of Latyrx and producer Headnodic of Crown City Rockers.[2][3]

History

The Mighty Underdogs was formed when Lateef the Truthspeaker, planning to make his own solo album, listened to some of Headnodic-produced tracks, rapped a verse for each, and sent them over to Gift of Gab.[4]

The group released the debut EP, The Prelude, in 2007.[5] In 2010, it was chosen by XXL as one of their 100 Essential Rap EPs.[6]

The first studio album, Droppin' Science Fiction, was released on Definitive Jux in 2008.[7][8][9][10] It featured contributions from Chali 2na, DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, and MF Doom,[11] as well as Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, Tash, Julian Marley, and Damian Marley.[12]
