Navy of Palestine

The navy of Palestine is a branch of the Palestinian National Security Forces tasked with securing the coastline of the Gaza Strip.

Overview

More broadly, it may refer to the various realms of Palestinians that have conducted military operations on the coasts of the historic regions of Palestine. Analysis on independent Palestinian sea operations are usually discussed within the context of final status agreements during peace negotiations with Israel.[1] Since the declaration of the State of Palestine, most sources that mention the term refer to only the coastal regions along the Gaza Strip.[2] According to the Oslo II accords the Palestinian police's navy has to restrict its duties to within 6 nautial miles from the coast.[3]
