Montevallo, Missouri

Montevallo is an unincorporated community in Vernon County, Missouri, United States.^[1]

History

Montevallo was platted in the 1850s.^[2] Montevallo is derived from Spanish words for "hill" and "valley".^[3] A post office was established at Montevallo in 1858, and remained in operation until being discontinued in 1968.^[4] The community was badly damaged in the Civil War.^[5]
