List of Florida Atlantic Owls head football coaches

The Florida Atlantic Owls football team represents Florida Atlantic University in the East Division of the C-USA. The Owls compete as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. The program has had 3 different head coaches since it began play during the 2001 season.

The Owls have played over 150 games in 14 seasons. In that time, only one Head Coach has led the Owls to postseason bowl games: Howard Schnellenberger. FAU has a 2-0 record in two bowl games in which they have competed: the 2007 New Orleans Bowl[1] and the 2008 Motor City Bowl.[1] The Owls have been Co-Conference Champions once: in 2007 by Schellenberger, during the Owl’s time in the Sun Belt Conference.[2]

Schellenberger spent the most seasons (11) as the Owl’s head coach and took the program to its only bowl games. The highest winning percentage by any coach is by Brian Wright, who was an interim coach during the 2013 season, who finished the season 4-0, following the resignation of former Head Coach Carl Pelini. The lowest winning percentage for any coach is current Head Coach Charlie Partridge, who has gone 3-9 (.250) in each of his two seasons; 6-18 (.250) overall.

The current head coach of the Owls is Charlie Partridge, who was hired in December 2013.[3] FAU is the first head coaching job for Partridge, who previously held assistant and coordinator positions at Arkansas, Wisconsin, Pitt, Eastern Illinois, Iowa State and Drake.
