The Derby Line–Stanstead Border Crossing connects the town of Stanstead, Quebec with Derby Line, Vermont on the Canada–US border. While there historically have been many roads that connect this community divided by a border, this page refers to the location at which U.S. Route 5 intersects Quebec Route 143. Since 2009, barricades have been erected on Church Street, Lee Street and Ball Street to prevent people from crossing the border at locations where border inspection services are not present, forcing locals to cross at this crossing, or at the Derby Line–Rock Island Border Crossing east of town.

The current US border station was built in 1936, and is set back from the physical border by about 300 feet. The current Canada border station was built in 1970. The former Canada border station still stands adjacent to it, and functions as a restaurant. The historic elements of the US border station have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This border community features several buildings which are bisected by the border, the most famous of which is the Haskell Free Library and Opera House, which was built in 1904 to benefit the residents on both sides of the border.[1]
