Canadian Accredited Independent Schools

Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS, stylized as CA+IS) is a national organization for independent schools in Canada. It was formed in October 2009, as the result of a merger between the Canadian Educational Standards Institute and the Canadian Association of Independent Schools.[1] Until February 2011, the organization went by the name of Standards in Excellence and Learning (SEAL Canada).[2]

Canadian Association of Independent Schools

Canadian Association of Independent Schools was an association for independent schools that operate within Canada or offer a curriculum leading to a Canadian diploma in a location outside of the country. Member schools were non-profit institutions with volunteer Boards of Governors responsible for hiring a Head to manage the daily operation of the school. Membership was available to schools offering an academic program that would prepare students for entrance to institutions of higher education.

In October 2009, the Association and the Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI) formed a new national organization, SEAL Canada (Standards in Excellence and Learning in Canada).

CAIS Accredited Schools

CAIS encompasses 95 accredited independent schools, and its aim is to collaborate in the pursuit of leadership, training, research and innovation, and application of international standards. The stated vision of the organization is to be "the voice of excellence in learning and leadership, we shape the future of education in Canada and the world."[3]
