Armand Maulana

Armand Maulana (born Tubagus Armand Maulana; April 4, 1971) is an Indonesian singer who an member of vocalist in music group Gigi. Maulana is an youngest brother of a singer and presenter Nita Talina and a husband of singer Dewi Gita. During with his band Gigi, Maulana has releasing fourteen studio album in local music industry. In addition, Maulana also appeared in several advertisement in television (totally with Gigi and his wife).

Early life

Tubagus Armand Maulana was born on April 4, 1971, on Bandung, West Java, to parents Tubagus Achmad Drajat and Enden Khadijah. Since his junior high in his hometown, Maulana his began debut career for joining a model magazine event Mode which had became as finalist. Maulana has joining with his vocal group in school and appointed to be as lead vocals. His vocals making encouraged to he forming a school band with his former member of the accompaniment band of vocal group.

In middle of 1980 as junior high, Maulana began playing fusion music and his talent music had listened. In addition, he also collecting of several album, including jazz.

Career

Maulana began his singer career for joining with the band Next Band in 1990. A year later, Maulana had also ever join to the most popular group Trio Libels. Still same of year, Armand had singing a song which written by Agil, "Biar Saja", for listed in compilation album, Festival Lagu Popular Indonesia. In addition, Maulana has releasing his debut studio album, titled Kau Tetap Milikku (1992), before two years formed to the group Gigi.

In 2013, Maulana selected as judge in the Indosiar competition talent singer The Voice Indonesia of season 1 with Glenn Fredly, Sherina Munaf and Giring Nidji.

After his band had temporary vacuum, Maulana has began for solo artist to signed recording by Trinity Optima Production and releasing single "Hanya Engkau Yang Bisa". Its single subsequently winning for 2016 Best Soul/R&B/Urban Male/Female Solo Artist in Anugerah Musik Indonesia.^[1] Previously, Maulana has singing duet with his wife Dewi Gita for "Seperti Legenda".

Maulana has appointed as singing the theme song in opening of the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional and bringing the song "Berjaya di Tanah Legenda".^[2]

Maulana has cited Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins as his major influence for pop touch had more viscous. Several musicians also cited by him, such as Kenny Loggins, Jonathan Davis and David Coverdale.
