The current headteacher is Stephen Campbell, who replaced Mark Jackson, who was appointed headteacher of Haslingden High School in March 2011.[3] Jackson took over from his predecessor, Frank Havard, in September 2004. Havard took over as headteacher in 1994, after being deputy headteacher for five years.[4] The school made the 100 Most Improved list of schools in February 2008, under the leadership of Jackson.[5]

The school was recognised for “exceptional” progress in GCSEs for the second year running, in June 2016.[6]

In 2015 and 2016, one group of pupils from the school took part in one large project called “Beyond Labels: In Young Men’s Shoes”, which saw a release of both a coffee book and album. The project was nominated, and later won, the SLYNC Award, in the category Young Artists Of the Year, in March 2017.[7]

They were also nominated for the Fusion Award in the Youth Leadership Category on 13 May 2017.[8] The project was also named “Film of the Month” for February 2017 by Into Film, who work with BAFTA.[9] The school also saw a visit from children’s author Tom Palmer in April 2017.[10]
