Zeddy Saileti (born 1969) is a former Zambian football striker and present football coach. Currently he is the manager of RoPS Youth Academy based in Kitwe.[1] A good goalscorer, he formed part of the squad that reached the final of the 1994 African Nations Cup. Saileti was born and raised in a family of eleven children. His father was a mine worker and mother a home school teacher. His little brother Derek Saileti is also a football player. Saileti used to play several sports while young - mostly football and tennis. Luanshya mining company paid for the gear. Saileti has four daughters which two live in Zambia.[2]

Background

Saileti can thank Roger Milla for getting noticed by RoPS chairman Jouko Kiistala in the beginning of the 1990s. Kiistala had admired Milla's talent and decided to scout African player for his club with help of his brother and his brothers Zambian friend who were studying in London that time. Zambian friend was then send to scout good Zambian based players for RoPS and Saileti was found. Despite of other offers at the table, Saileti decided to choose exotic Finland.[3]

He played since 1994, for RoPS, Finnish club in Rovaniemi, currently in the Ykkönen, the second highest level in Finnish football. Saileti was a vital part of the team and spend 16 seasons with the team. He has been team's best goalscorer in 95, 96, 00, 01, 04, 05, 06 and 08. Saileti has most caps in Veikkausliiga with RoPS. He is in second place of the all-time scorers with 65 premier league goals in 294 games.[4] While in the Ykkönen, the Finnish second highest tier, with RoPS, he has scored 27 goals in 86 games.

In end of 2007 Saileti signed a new contract with RoPS making him a player-coach for the team.

Later he was named RoPS co-head coach together with Jorma Turpeenniemi. Saileti decided to retire at the end of season 2009. On 17 October 2009 he played his last game against Kuopion Palloseura at the age of 40.
