Xuxa Meneghel is a Brazilian late-night talk show hosted by Xuxa on Rede Record. Premiered on 17 August 2015.[1]

Background

After 29 years of Rede Globo, and away from television a year ago, Xuxa Meneghel, debuted his new one by TV Record on August 17, 2015, at 10.30 pm, live, just after the Jornal da Record, under the direction of Mariozinho Vaz. First broadcast live on Monday nights, direct from the RecNov complex in Rio de Janeiro, Xuxa Meneghel was inspired by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres in the United States by NBC.

Concept

On stage, Xuxa receives, with each show, one or two special guests. In addition, she conducts external interviews. Among the personalities already interviewed are Neymar, surfer Gabriel Medina and actor Jack Black.

In 2015, the program hosted the Concurso A Nova Prometida, which chose an actress for the Biblical telenovela Rede Record, A Terra Prometida. Actress Louise Marrie was the winner of the contest.

On November 23, 2015, the program was produced by Cygnus Media.[2] In January 2016 the Casablanca production company took over the talk show production.[3] In the same month, the director Mariozinho Vaz leaves the direction of the program.[4] From then, Xuxa Meneghel happened to have the general direction of Ignacio Coqueiro and direction of Blad Meneghel (Xuxa's brother), Patrícia Guimarães and Fulfilled Thamara.

Reception

Patricia Kogut from O Globo said that Xuxa's debut on Record was "no big news." Mauricio Stycer said that Xuxa debuted his new TV show without subject. TV critic José Armando Vanucci said that the public of Xuxa is "not on Record, unfortunately".[5]

Ratings

Xuxa Meneghel debuted with a 10.4 point rating; and 19% of share. It usually only trails behind Programa do Ratinho,[6] and Maquina da Fama in total viewers.[7]
