Tuusniemi is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Northern Savonia region. The municipality has a population of 2,694 (31 March 2016)[2] and covers an area of 699.43 square kilometres (270.05 sq mi) of which 156.15 km2 (60.29 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 4.96 inhabitants per square kilometre (12.8/sq mi).

Neighbour municipalities are Heinävesi, Juankoski, Kaavi, Kuopio, Leppävirta and Outokumpu.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
