The Tramontana Car is a mid-engined Spaniard sportscar with styling inspired by combining Formula One racing cars and jet-fighters. It is built by Atelier Tramontana, in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). It was launched as a concept at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, and subsequently modified for production. It began as a project with the aim of breaking with the conventionalisms and creating a new family of supercars. Only 12 a year are manufactured and they are all made under special request. In 2009, Tramontana introduced a closed top model named Tramontana R.,[1][2] and the XTR version in 2012.[3][4] Now the company no longer produces these models, since they are focused on the Tramontana Car, which is a bespoke supercar fully customizable by the driver.

Overview

Engine and Transmission

The car is fitted with either a mid-engined 5.5 litre double overhead cam V12 Mercedes-Benz, twin-turbocharged engine producing up to 900 PS (662 kW; 888 hp), or V10 naturally aspirated engine with 660 PS (485 kW; 651 hp). Before to fit in the car, every engine re-built, assembled and tested at their Barcelona production plant. This, in combination with a 7-speed sequential gearbox, launches the car from 0–100 km/h in under 3.6 seconds,[5] and gets a top speed of more than 325 km/h (202 mph).

Exterior and Interior

Atelier Tramontana established that each car has to be different from the other units produced by the company. They define their product as a bespoke supercar where every detail is designed by and for the driver.

The Tramontana has a monocoque chassis made out of impregnated carbon fibre/honeycomb, as the Formula One safety cell that cocoons the driver protecting them from injuries. This allows weight reduction for the car, while also combining carbon fibre for the body. Its Formula One inspired style generates more than 250 kg of downforce, and lateral cornering forces of 1.3 G at high speeds. The Tramontana is fully customizable by the client, but as standard package comes with forged aluminum wheels, measuring 20". Other highlights include different aerodynamic options available to be chosen depending on the use of the car and a single canopy door that allows access to the tandem structured cockpit. If the two seat option is chosen, the passenger sits directly behind and slightly higher than the driver remember the fighter-jets tandem position.

The interior is a mix of aluminium, carbon fibre and leather. The driver also has the possibility to design the interior with gold and other finest materials. Only one unit of each car is produced and the interior can't also be made again the same. It also has The bonnet badge is made of solid white gold.

Wheels, brakes and suspension

The car weights 1,268 kg (2,795 lb) and the suspension is an adjustable double wishbone suspension. It also has a suspension lifting system to adjust ride height depending on the road conditions.
