Released in 1994, Teenager of the Year was Frank Black’s second solo album, produced by former Pere Ubu member Eric Drew Feldman, who also played keyboards.[6] This album is often cited as the high-point of Francis' post-Pixies catalogue,[7][8][9] even being named to Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 90s".[10] Long considered a testament to Frank Black's songwriting skills as well as his virtue as a performer, Teenager also features work by several backing musicians, including Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago and guitarist Lyle Workman. Although not originally well-received, the record is now widely praised by both critics and fans as his strongest post-Pixies moment.[11]

The album reached number 2 on Billboard's Heat Seekers list and 131 on The Billboard 200 list in 1994. The single "Headache" reached number 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks that year.[12]

Although it is out of print in LP or CD form, like all of Black Francis' non-Pixies catalogue, it is available to stream on his website.
