Sanjeevani Bhelande(born 26 January),[2] better known by her first name as Sanjeevani, is the first ever winner of a talent show in the history of Indian television, to have got a Bollywood playback singing break. In 1995 she won the Zee TV voice talent hunt show Sa Re Ga Ma.[3]

Personal life

Sanjeevani was born in a family of academicians. Her father was Director of Education for Maharashtra government and Professor of Sanskrit. Her mother retired as Professor of English.She has an older sister and brother.

Sanjeevani holds a Masters in Commerce, a Diploma in Mass Communication and a degree in music( Sangeet Visharad).[4][5]

Career

Sanjeevani sang all the songs of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Hindi movie Kareeb which was her first movie as playback singer.she won the Ashirwad best playback singer award for the song 'Chori chori jab nazrein mili'. She was nominated for the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award in 1999. She has sung several hits like Nikamma kiya( film Kya dil ne kaha-music Himesh Reshamiya), Chidiya main hoti (film Nayak, musicA. R. Rahman, Yara rub russ jane de( film Socha na tha, music Sandesh), Makhmali yeh badan (film Road), Uljhanon ko (film Rules).

Sanjeevani has performed more than 1000 concerts around the world. Her speciality is the classical based songs.She comperes,scripts and designs her shows.She has millions of dollars for the fundraisers of Ekal Vidyalaya USA. Her concerts with Waheeda REhman and Gulzar were a sellout. In her book and cd MEERA & ME, she has translated and sung saint Meerabai's poems into English.These were released by Mahesh Bhatt and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.[6] Sanjeevani has composed and sung around 100 tracks for the online spiritual channel Rajshrisoul including hanuman chalisa, krishna bhajans,aartis,chants.Sanjeevani represented India in the Asia-pacific broadcasting union(ABU)song festival held in Istanbul Turkey in October 2015 and won accolades. Sanjeevani has sung several regional albums like 'Junee Junee' and Janamjanam in Nepali, 'Ganesham Gungambhiram',Jai Shri Ganpati in Marathi,[7][8] 'Darshnam paapnashanam' in Gujrati, 'Tooniga tooniga' in Telugu, Bichiya ro ranko in Rajasthani, and has sung in 11 languages.[9]

She also co-hosted Doordarshan TV serial 'Picnic Antakshari' with Sachin Pilgaonkar.
