There are five members in the Los Angeles-based pop rock band R5: Ross Lynch (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Riker Lynch (vocals, bass), Rocky Lynch (vocals, lead guitar), Rydel Lynch (vocals, keyboard), and Ellington Ratliff (drums).

Riker, Rydel, Rocky, and Ross are four of five siblings. Ellington goes by his last name Ratliff in order to fit with the pattern of names all starting with "R."

Ross Lynch

Ross Shor Lynch (born December 29, 1995 in Littleton, Colorado) is the fourth child of five siblings.[1] His favorite color is yellow, movie Romeo and Juliet, band The Script, and sport Ice Hockey. Lynch can play the piano, drums, and bass and sing; however, he specializes in guitar and singing. He danced for the Rage Boyz Crew, a group founded by a dance company in Southern California.

Ross Lynch has been on So You Think You Can Dance and has had guest appearances on shows like Moises Rules!, and can be seen in movies such as Grapple. From 2011 to 2016, he appeared in the Disney Channel television program entitled Austin & Ally, playing the lead male role of Austin Moon, a teenage singer who becomes an overnight sensation and forms a partnership with Ally, a shy songwriter.[2][3] In early 2012, Lynch began work on the Disney Channel Original Movie, Teen Beach Movie.[4] His first promotional single, "A Billion Hits", was released on April 2, 2012.[5] On July 13, 2012, Lynch released the single "Heard It on the Radio"[6] and, on September 12, 2012, released his debut soundtrack, Austin & Ally from the show of the same name. Lynch had a cameo appearance in the movie Muppets Most Wanted in 2014. He returned in Teen Beach 2 in 2015. [7] He is also in the upcoming movie "Status Update" which will start filming in 2016. Status Update will be Ross' first major non-Disney acting project.

Riker Lynch

Riker Anthony Lynch (born November 8, 1991 in Littleton, Colorado) to parents Mark and Stormie Lynch. He is the oldest of five children, one sister, Rydel, and three brothers, Rocky, Ross, and Ryland. While living in Colorado, the Lynch children made up and put on shows for their family when some of them were as young as four or five. In 2008, Riker, decided that he wanted to move to L.A. when he was 18 to pursue an acting career. So their parents, Stormie and Mark Lynch, moved the whole family to and Marks business L.A. so that they could stay together. In the summer he would act in children's versions of plays such as Peter Pan, Aladdin, Annie Get Your Gun, A Chorus Line, and Grease. Riker and his sister Rydel took piano lessons and competed as partners in dance competition.

In October 2009, the family met Ellington Ratliff at a dance studio in California The Rage, where he lived. He is not in the Lynch family; he is a friend. Upon learning that Ellington could play drums, they added the final member, and formed the current R5. Riker is one of the Dalton Academy Warblers on Fox's hit show Glee. He was specifically introduced as Jeff in the season 2 episode "Special Education", appearing there after as one of the Warbler singers in nine more episodes through seasons 2, 3, and 4. He also appeared as a Warbler in the 2011 edition of the Glee Live! In Concert! tour, which performed from May through July 3, 2011 in the U.S., Canada, England and Ireland. A movie was filmed of the tour concert, which includes scenes with Riker performing as Jeff: Glee: The 3D Concert Movie was released on August 12, 2011.[8] The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 20, 2011 under the title Glee: The Concert Movie.[9]

On February 24, 2015, Riker was announced as one of the celebrities who will participate on the 20th season of Dancing with the Stars. He is paired with professional dancer Allison Holker in which they achieved 2nd place.

Rocky Lynch

Rocky Mark Lynch (born November 1, 1994, Littleton, Colorado) is the lead guitarist of R5[10] and the third child of five siblings. He taught himself and his brothers how to play guitar. His favorites are: the band The Script, the candy Nerds and the color green. He made his acting debut in NASA: Exploration Space - Explorers Wanted as Flight Director 3. He appeared in the Wedding Band as Justa Crush in the episode "Get Down on It".

Rydel Lynch

Rydel Mary Lynch (born August 9, 1993, Littleton, Colorado)[10] is the second oldest of the five siblings. She learned to play the keyboard and the tambourine, as well as learning how to dance. She had also choreographed a dance for LA Hip kids. Rydel cites All Time Low, Neon Trees and The Script as influences. She has appeared in several commercials.[11]

She made her acting debut in Sunday School Musical as a Crossroads Choir Member.[12] She appeared in School Gyrls as a Cheerleader along with her brother Riker Lynch. She appeared in A Day as Holly's Kids as Holly's Actual Kid 2. She appeared in the "Pilot" episode of the television series Bunheads as a Vegas Showgirl.[11] Rydel told Teen Ink about Bunheads, “I’m one of the dancers and if it gets picked up, it’ll air on ABC family.”[11] she had shown up on the Ring Pop commercial.

Ellington Ratliff

Ellington Lee Ratliff (born April 14, 1993, Los Angeles, California)[13] is a drummer and actor. In October 2009, Ratliff met the Lynch siblings at a dance studio in California. In 2001, he made his acting debut in All You Need as Robbie Crenshaw. In 2009, he appeared in Eastwick as Teenage Boy in the episode "Mooning and Crooning". Ellington appeared in Nickelodeon's Victorious debut episode as Evan in the first episode. He appeared in Raising Hope in the episode "It's a Hopeful Life". Ellington also appeared in My Uncle Rafael as Photographer. He appeared in Red Scare as Huey Miller in two episodes "Brinksmanship" and "The Nuclear Club". He along with Riker were extras in the movie "The Muppets." He was uncredited in this film. His favorites are the color dark green and candy gummies.
