Roberts High School provides non-traditional educational programs in the Salem-Keizer School District. Rather than a centralized campus, Roberts High School consists of departments at different sites in Salem and Keizer, Oregon. These branch sites include the Downtown Learning Center, Structured Learning Center, Bridge, and Internet-based SK Online.

Web-based curriculum

SK Online provides web-based curriculum for students who need accelerated learning, are credit deficient, have scheduling conflicts in a traditional school, are home schooled, need remediation, or are medically fragile. Students under the age of 21 and reside within the Salem-Keizer Public School District are eligible to fully enroll with SK Online. SK Online also serves students enrolled at other schools or districts by prior arrangement.

In addition to online support and email, SK Online teachers may meet students in face-to-face meetings, conference by telephone, or arrange web camera conferences to further assist students or monitor testing. SK Online courses can supplement instruction for students enrolled at traditional high schools. SK Online provides online learning opportunities in multiple ways: 1) students who reside and are enrolled in Salem-Keizer Public School District as part of the student’s school day and with their school’s approval; 2) through tuition or prior agreements with other school districts; or 3) through privately paid tuition. As a matter of policy, SK Online does not enroll students outside of Salem-Keizer District boundaries but will serve by tuition or interagency agreement.

Courses & Programs

Available courses and online registration are listed on SK Online’s web site. Students enrolled in SK Online can earn a Roberts HS diploma or may transition to a neighborhood high school or another branch of Roberts High School.

Bridge is an alternative program of opportunity designed to help credit deficient 11th and 12th grade students complete the requirements for a Salem-Keizer high school diploma. Bridge is an online learning program providing computer resource labs after regular school hours in neighborhood high schools and as a full-day option, the Downtown Learning Center. Bridge supports students with online courseware and instructional assistance.

The Downtown Learning Center hosts a daytime Bridge option to accommodate the need for flexible scheduling. Bridge students usually focus on one course at a time according to their personal learning plan. Bridge students can earn a Roberts HS Diploma or may transition to a neighborhood high school or another branch of Roberts High School.

Structured Learning Center addresses the needs of secondary-level students with severe behavior issues or expelled from their neighborhood schools. The Structured Learning Center works to continue the students’ educational progress while developing personal management skills. The Structured Learning Center offers small-group instruction with additional opportunities through online learning, and internships such as IKE Media. As part of the Structured Learning Center, Fresh Start classrooms provides students with high school educational opportunities and development of their ability to make appropriate choices, be responsible for their actions, and become self-sufficient. Structured Learning Center and Fresh Start students can earn a Roberts HS Diploma or may transition to a neighborhood high school or another branch of Roberts High School.

Work Experience Program enables high school students who have jobs to gain elective credit through learning employment skills directly from their jobs. The curriculum is aligned to Oregon's Career Related Learning Standards. Administered centrally for Salem-Keizer Public School District, students may earn up to four credits in their high school careers and enter the Work Experience Program through referral by their local high school counselor.

The Downtown Learning Center

The GED Option located at the Downtown Learning Center serves Salem-Keizer Public Schools students ages 16 through 21 who need alternative education outside of their resident high school and who are deficient in credit. The GED Option provides students with an instructional program in GED preparation and vocational assessment.
