René Schneider (born February 1, 1973) is a German football player.

He played mostly for Hansa Rostock and Borussia Dortmund. During his time at Dortmund he gained a Champions League medal in 1997, making one appearance en route to the final. This came against Auxerre in the quarterfinal first leg, a game in which he also scored.[1] He was, however, left off of the squad for the final altogether.

He played for Germany national football team and was a participant at the 1996 UEFA European Championship.
