The Queen Mary University of London Golf Club (also referred to as QMUL Golf Club and QMGC) represents Queen Mary University of London in all golf tournaments. The club is affiliated to British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

History

QMUL Golf Club was founded in early 2011, and established a long-term partnership with Wanstead Golf Club in the same year. Situated in Wanstead, the course is a challenging 18 holes, set in beautiful parkland, bordered by Wanstead Park and the lower reaches of Epping Forest yet only a few miles from Docklands and the City of London.[1] All home fixtures for the BUCS Golf Championship and exclusive QMGC Tournaments are held there. Coaching is available for newcomers to the game throughout the academic year with great facilities on-site; particular emphasis is on golfing technique, rules and etiquette. Members have access to the clubhouse at Wanstead Golf Club.[2] In October 2012, QMUL Golf Club established a professional affiliation with the Kensington National Club of Urban Golf. Situated in Kensington High Street, Urban Golf operates with state of the art 'aboutGolf' simulators that allows one to play realistic, virtual versions of the greatest golf courses in the world.[3]

Colours

The club traditionally plays in the university's colours of blue and gold. The crest features a leopard rampant; a heraldic rendition of the Union's mascot - Mary the Leopard. The club motto reads Coniunctis Viribus (With United Powers).

QMGC tournaments

An annual tournament for experienced golfers, who are not involved with the Mixed 1st Team, is currently being organised by the club's committee.
