Qassim University is a public university in Buraydah in the Al-Qassim Province of Saudi Arabia. It was established in 2004 jointly between King Saud University and Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, each of which used it as its Qassim campus. Subsequently, its constituent colleges became a part of Qassim University. The main campus of Qassim University covers about eight square kilometers in the heart of the region in Buraydah. Qassim University has over 38 Colleges, offering 17 PhD, 62 master, and 731 Bachelor and diplomas programs [1]. The government approved allotments for Qassim University in 2013 was 2,351 million riyals (approx 626.87 million US Dollar) [2]. There are campuses in different cities in Al-Qassim Province. During 2008, enrolment at Qassim University was 40,000 students. Faculty and staff totalled 3,500. During 2016/2017, the admission department stated that there are 7019 male students and 9692 female students was accepted as new students at Qassim University [3]; and the number of Faculty and staff is approx 6000. In 2016, Qassim University was ranked 6 in Saudi Arabia and 1909 in the World Rank according to webometrics.info [4].Qassim University (QU) appeared in the QS Work Ranking for the first time in 2011. The university has applied for QS stars rating which is an extensive quality audit of the services and facilities provided by the university. In 2015, QS ranked Qassim University as 51 among Arab Region Rankings; and in 2016, thr rank increase to 46 among Arab Region Rankings [5].

Colleges at Qassim University include Sharia College; the College of Arabic Language and Social Sciences; the College of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences; a College of Economics; a College of Science; a College of Medicine; a College of Engineering; a College of Computer Science; a College of Applied Medical Sciences; a College of Dentistry and a College of Pharmacy.

There is also a Science College in Al-Zilfi, community colleges and women's colleges.

Location

The main campus is located in the middle of Al-Qassim Province in north of Buraydah. It called Mlida quarter and, it is near of Saudi Aramco (Qassim Branch) and Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Regional Airport (formerly Qassim Regional Airport). Sub-campuses is sited in Unaizah and south of Buraydah. QU is located in the center of the Qassim region, 4 km north of Qassim Airport.

Accreditations

ABET: Qassim Engineering College EE, CE, and ME B.Sc. programs delivered on the main campus are accredited by the ABET (EAC).

QS Benchmarking: Qassim University is currently being benchmarked by QS against its national and international peers. The benchmarking provides a detailed map of the university's strengths and weaknesses in various academic markers.

NCAAA: Qassim University is currently undergoing the accreditation process by National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA).

ASIIN e.V : Qassim University is also undergoing the certification of quality management systems in systems accreditation.

COE: Community College in Buraidh obtained the accreditation from The Council on Occupational Education (COE) in July 2012.
