Printful is an online Drop shipping and print on demand company based in Chatsworth, California. Printful was founded in 2013 by Lauris Liberts as part of the Draugiem Group. Printful provides automated on-demand printing of custom t-shirts, posters and other print products for E-commerce businesses .

History

Printful was launched in 2013 without investment, led by Lauris Liberts, co-founder of the Draugiem Group, home of the Latvian social media platform, Draugiem. The social network's success spawned other startups such as the GPS tracking system Mapon established in 2006 and the text messaging service, Text2Reach in 2008. This was followed by a shift to focus on the global market, which resulted in the development of projects such as Desktime, and later Behappy.me and Startup Vitamins.

Printful was created in response to demand for automatic print while running Startup Vitamins,[1] an online store selling business quotes on posters. The first printer was operated by Liberts and his wife from their home in California, before the first employee and garage warehouse were obtained.[2] In 2014 Printful moved to a larger facility in Burbank, California[3] and in 2015 moved into 35,000 sq ft premises in Chatsworth, California. In 2016 Printful opened its second North American branch in Charlotte, North Carolina.[4]

The company began by offering designs on posters, t-shirts and other products. The key feature of its service is the degree of automation that its API offers.[5]
