The Niš was a Yugoslav passenger ferry that sank at the junction of the Danube and Sava rivers in Belgrade (present day Serbia) on September 9, 1952. Up to 126 people drowned when the ferry capsized in stormy weather.[2] The ferry had a passenger capacity of only 60 people. It was lifted from underwater and, after reconstruction, was again used for passenger transport on the Danube between Smederevo and Kovin until 1956, when it was demolished for spare parts.[3]
