Manchester Thunder are part of the Netball Superleague, which consists of the top eight netball teams in Wales and England. The club is located in Manchester, Greater Manchester. They finished third in the 2015 Netball Superleague season, beating Yorkshire Jets 55-49 in the 3rd-place playoff.[1] The coach of the Thunder is Dan Ryan, who previously worked as assistant coach at Adelaide Thunderbirds.[2] He was appointed in June 2015 after previous coach Tracey Neville was appointed manager of the England national netball team. Karen Grieg is the assistant coach and Sara Hale is the defensive coach.[3]

The club's home court is the Wright Robinson Sports College, which is known as The Thunderdome when hosting Manchester Thunder matches. The club won the annual Mike Greenwood Trophy three times in a row between 2012-2014, before losing to Team Bath in the 2015 edition.[4]

Manchester Thunder will play Yorkshire Jets in a pre-season friendly match on 12 December 2015.[5] Prior to the 2015 season, Manchester Thunder won the corresponding meeting 49-35.[6]
