Majigram (Bengali: মাজিগ্রাম) is a Village in Mangolkote Block in Bardhaman District of West Bengal State, India. It belongs to Burdwan Division . It is located 49 km towards North from District headquarters Bardhaman. 141 km from State capital Kolkata. This Place is near in the border of the Bardhaman District and Birbhum District.

Geography

The region has an average elevation of 30metres (100 ft). The city is situated 1148 km from New Delhi and a little less than 141 km north-west of Kolkata on the Grand Trunk Road (NH-2) and Eastern Railway. The nearby river is Ajay River.

The first epigraphic reference to the name "Burdwan" occurs in a 6th-century AD copper plate found in Mangolkote village under Mangolkote Police Station. Archeological evidences suggest that this region, forming a major part of Radh Bengal, could be traced even back to 4000 BCE. In recent times there has been exploration of the remains of an ancient civilisation similar to that of the Indus Valley Civilisation at Mangalkote village.

Majigram has a multi-cultural heritage. The deuls found here are reminiscent of Bengali Hindu architecture. The old temples bear signs of Hinduism, mostly belonging to the Sakta and Vaishnava followers. Lots of Temples are there in Majigram.
