Lockie Leonard

Lockie Leonard is a fictional character in a series of children's novels. The books were written by Booker Prize nominee, Tim Winton. Lockie Leonard is a teenage "surf rat" who moves from the city to Angelus, Western Australia, "the most remote town on Earth". Lockie has to deal with starting high school in a new town with no friends and a house that is in danger of sinking into a swamp. His father is a police officer who everybody calls Sarge, his mother Joy, is frighteningly understanding, his brother Phillip still wets the bed and his baby sister Barbara, who everyone calls Blob, likes to eat the lino, and the pet sheep, Cyril.

The Lockie Leonard TV series, adapted from the books, was shot in Albany, Western Australia and originally screened on the Nine Network in 2007, and a second season began airing in 2010. It was popular all around the world and still has many avid fans.

1. Lockie Leonard, Human Torpedo (ISBN 0-09-997320-0) was written in 1990. Lockie Leonard is a teenage boy who lives in Angelus, Western Australia after moving with his family from Perth.

A stage version, dramatized by Paige Gibbs (ISBN 0-86819-478-6), was performed by the Perth Theater Company. It was first commissioned and performed by the WA Youth Theatre Company, Perth.

2. Lockie Leonard, Scumbuster (ISBN 9780143307761) was written in 1993. Lockie is back to being the loneliest kid in town until he makes friends with the weirdest human being he's ever met. His name is Egg. Egg the metal head.

3. Lockie Leonard, Legend (ISBN 9780143307778) was written in 1997. After surviving his first year of high school, settling into a new town and his first love, Lockie's world of weirdness continue
