List of films banned in Malaysia

This is a list of films banned (Rejected) in Malaysia. Films that are assigned the "Tidak Diluluskan Untuk Tayangan" category by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia are banned for sale, possession, distribution and screening. Screening Rejected films, possessing, selling, or even owning them in private is forbidden and strictly enforced and can be punished with severe fines, up to 5 years imprisonment or both.

1936 The Bohemian Girl It was banned due to its Roma theme. It was passed during the '90s with a VCD release from Warner Malaysia Video.[1]
1946 The Big Sleep It was banned in Malaysia, but passed in 1999 by a VCD release and a delayed DVD release from Warner Malaysia Video.[1]
1956 The King and I It was banned when Malaysians were offended by it. It was passed in 2005 by a VCD release and a DVD release from Fox Malaysia.[1]
1956 The Ten Commandments It was banned by Paramount Malaysia (now United International Pictures) due to religious content.[1]
1964 491 It was banned due to a homosexual rape scene; a censored version was later released.[1]
1971 A Clockwork Orange It was banned due to its explicit sexual and violent content. A censored version was later released on DVD after several years.[2]
1971 The Last House on the Left It was passed for a VCD release by Movie Master in the late 1990s.[1]

1975 Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom It was banned due to repulsive, outrageous and abhorrent content (extremely high impact violence, offensive depictions of cruelty and other material that is repelling and abhorrent).[1]
