Kong Lin (Chinese: 孔琳) (born 5 January 1969), also known as Kong Ling (Chinese: 孔令), is a Mainland, Chinese actress, television series and movie producer, art director and semi-rock-pop singer. Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang but now she lives in Beijing, Jilin.

She is one of brilliant student with great ability and multitalented of the Beijing Film Academy on her generation. When was pre-graduated of her study, she was already contributed in some movies projects what big-name directors have worked, such Zhang Yimou in his movie, Raise the Red Lantern.

Well-known as a 'bad character woman' in many television series because of her good act in Raise the Red Lantern movie as an antagonist character, she has gotten many villainess role such as was in The Proud Twins (2005), Zhen Qing Gao Bie (2003), The Raging Butterfly (2003), Lucky Zhu Bajie (2003) and many others.

Early life

Kong Lin grew up in a family of artists, her father was in Western Opera/theatrical works as singer and actor. So that, she was in her father's training, was nurtured by him such as singing, dancing, acting, and also playing violoncello, all she can do well.

In 1987, Lin's father brought her to study in Beijing Film Academy to seriously beginning her career in acting. Previously, at her teenage life, she was often participated in the opera/theatre performances and also took part in school band when she was in Senior High School, like playing instruments (guitar, cello, or piano), singing, and dancing.

Career

Movies

When she was still on her study in college, was in pre-graduated of Beijing Film Academy, Kong Lin already participated into some movies. In 1989, Kong Lin was chosen by Li Shaohong, a famous Mainland director, to take a part on her movie named Bloody Morning. Lin as female leading role in that her first movie, she as a poor village girl called Li Hong Xin. Not only on that year, in 1991, she was lucky because contributed into Zhang Yimou's movie popular, Raise the Red Lantern. Lin got a chance to act with a big-name actress, Gong Li as her servant named Yan Er whose haughty, stubborn and full of hatred to her employer. This Lin's acting is one of popular of her movies role because of it phenomenal antagonist character. Also at the same year, Lin played as participant role in movie Transcend Life as Japanese girl, and Rippling Love as pianist girl. One year later, in 1992, Lin took a part as female leading role in semi-comedy movie Cannot Live Without Love with some her classmate.

After Lin was graduated from BFA, in 1994, she with some her classmate planned a movie that she act as leading role, 頭髮亂了 (English Tittle: Dirt). Not only take a part as a main cast, Kong Lin also as producer of that film which directed by Guan Hu. In 1996, still in Guan Hu's movie, Violoncello of the Street, Lin played as main cast with her performance skill, playing cello.

And the last of her contribution of film works was in 2009, in a Wong Jing's movie, I Corrupt All Cops. She was given as 'special appearance' role, acts with Tony Leung Ka-fai as his wife.

Television Series

The same of her movie, in TV Series works, Kong Lin not only take a part as an actress. She has also done some behind-the-scenes work for various productions. In 2001, Lin makes an adventure-story TV Series named 一路上有你 (English Tittle: You and Me on the Road). In that television series, she acts as female leading role, producer, script supervisor, and art director. In there, she showed her playing cello performance again, but just in a view scenes. That TV Series takes scenes in many places of four country, Beijing, Shanghai, Malaysia, and Canada, with many cast of actors and actresses from four country too, Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

Again did as a producer and script supervisor, in 2003, Lin with her friends and some junior-partners made a television series, 真情告别 Zhen Qing Gao Bie.
