Career highlights

Josh Caddy (born 28 September 1992) is an Australian rules footballer with the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Gold Coast Football Club from 2011 to 2013, and the Geelong Football Club from 2013 to 2016. He was drafted by Gold Coast with the seventh selection in the 2010 AFL draft.[1] Caddy was recruited from TAC Cup side Northern Knights[2] where he was captain for the 2010 season.[3]

Early football career

Caddy played his junior career with the Eltham Football Club in Melbourne's Northern Football League before joining the Northern Knights at the age of 15. In his final TAC Cup season he was a standout performer for the Knights in which he earned representative honours as well as All-Australian selection.[4]

He is the grandson of former North Melbourne footballer John Reeves and a nephew of another North Melbourne player, Michael Reeves.[5]

AFL career

20112012: Gold Coast

Caddy was drafted by Gold Coast with pick seven in the 2010 AFL draft. In his first season Caddy played the final two games of the season, making his debut in round 23 against Melbourne. After the season there was speculation that Caddy wanted to return to Victoria to play, with Essendon being a possible destination but there was no deal made and he remained at Gold Coast.

2012 was a much better season for Caddy, playing all 22 matches, and kicking 15 goals. In the round 16 loss to Geelong he was given the round nomination for the 2012 AFL Rising Star.[6]

In September 2012, the Gold Coast Suns announced that Caddy was requesting a trade to return to Victoria.[7]

20132016: Geelong

In October 2012, Caddy was traded to the Geelong Football Club for a round one compensation pick (which Geelong received for losing Gary Ablett Jr. to Gold Coast) and pick 55 in the 2012 AFL draft.[8]

2017present: Richmond

At the conclusion of the 2016 season, Caddy was traded to the Richmond Football Club.[9]
