Scope

J2-L271 is a clade, or a sub-Group of Y DNA Haplogroup J2-L192, member of Y DNA Haplogroup J2.
The Defining SNP, L271 of this group was first found by Family Tree DNA in 2010 under the project Walk Through the Y Chromosome conducted by Thomas Krahn.

It was found in a sample from Msaken, Tunisia belonging to Al Gazzah Family.

Further tests showed that this SNP is also found among other samples from Msaken belonging to different Families.

Big Y test

BigY test project was conducted by Family Tree DNA in 2014 and two samples from Msaken, Tunisia were so far tested under this project. The first one belongs to Al Gazzah Family, the second one belongs to Baya Chatti Family. The Analysis of the results done by Al Aburto and Yfull showed that there are about 6 private SNP for each participant.

Geographic Scope

This Haplogroup has been found so far among most people of Msaken 13 samples out of 15.
