Syed Imad Wasim, known as Imad Wasim, (born 18 December 1988) is a Pakistani Welsh cricketer who played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup for the national team and has also played first-class, List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket in Pakistan.[1] He represented Islamabad Leopards team in Faysal Bank T20 Cup 2012–12 season. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler.

Early career

Wasim was born in Wales. His father briefly worked in the UK as an engineer.[2] Wasim's parents moved to Pakistan when he was at a very early age, and he consequently played all first-class cricket there.[3] He became the first Welsh-born cricketer to represent Pakistan.[4][5]

International career

He made his Twenty20 International debut for Pakistan against Zimbabwe in Lahore on 24 May 2015.[6] He made his One Day International debut for Pakistan against Sri Lanka on 19 July 2015.[7] He was selected in the Pakistan squad for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

On 23 September 2016, Wasim became the first spinner for Pakistan to take five wickets in a T20I, when he took 5 for 14 against West Indies at Dubai.[8]
