Hero Senki: Project Olympus (ヒーロー戦記 プロジェクト オリュンポス Hīrō senki purojekuto oryunposu, lit. "Hero Chronicles: Project Olympus")[3] is a 1992 Role-playing video game for the Super Famicom developed Winky Soft and published by Banpresto. The game is released in November 20, 1992. It's the first RPG entry for the Compati Hero Series and the most notable one, being referenced in various Super Robot Wars games.

Story

The setting is a world named Elpis, where cyborgs, Mobile Suits, and Ultra-people live together in peace. The player takes the role of the special force team called ZEUS (Z-Extraordinary United Space). Up to four characters can be in a party at any given time and the currency of the game is considered to be credits. When the time comes to fight evil, the characters transform into their SD hero forms.

Characters

Gameplay

The protagonists can punch or use some of their technical power (which is the equivalent to magic points for robots) to fire their futuristic laser beams at the opposing forces (robotic, humanoid, or otherwise). The rewards of destroying monsters are experience points and additional credits. Having enough experience points results in an experience level increase. After gaining another level, the hit points and technical power points of the robots are refilled. Items are collected in treasure chests like in normal role-playing games.

Influence

Hero Senki is famous for its initial appearance of the Gespenst and cameos of Masaki Andoh (Cybuster) and Shuu Shirakawa (Granzon) from Super Robot Wars. The game also provides the initial backstory for Gilliam Yaeger, who is once known as Helios Olympus. Because of this, many references can be found in more recent Super Robot Wars games such as the world of Elpis, the system XN, aka XN Geist in Super Robot Wars: Original Generations and Gespenst's second appearance in 4th Super Robot Wars as the original protagonist's initial unit.
