Hemlata Gupta (d. 2006) was an Indian medical doctor and the director and head of the department of medicine at Lady Hardinge Medical College.[1] Her medical studies were at Lady Hardinge Medical College of the Delhi University where she later became a director.[2] The Government of India awarded her the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1998, for her contributions to medical science.[3] She was unmarried and lived in New Delhi when she was found murdered on 13 May 2006 at her residence in Karol Bagh.[4][5] After years of investigation, the case, which attracted media attention, is still unresolved.[6][7]
