The Grand Street Bridge is a swing bridge between the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. The bridge crosses Newtown Creek, and opened in December 1902.[1]

Construction on the bridge began in August 1900.[3] The new bridge was planned to open in October 1901, but wasn't completed until December 1902.[4] A later report on the delay found that the contractor hired to build the bridge was incompetent, and the bridge was completed by the City.[4]

The current bridge is the third on the site. The first two, both made of wood, were built in 1875 and 1890.[5]
