The discography of South Korean girl group Girls' Generation consists of eight studio albums (four of which were reissued under different titles), two live albums, four extended plays (EPs), one remix album and twenty-eight singles. Since launching in 2007, the group has sold over 4.4 million albums and 30 million digital singles.[1] In Japan, the group has sold over 3.48 million records–944,805 physical singles and 1,898,127 albums.[2]

Girls' Generation debuted in August 2007 with the single "Into the New World" and their first self-titled studio album, which was later re-released as Baby Baby (2008). The album spawned three more singles: "Girls' Generation", "Kissing You", and "Baby Baby". In 2009, Girls' Generation released two EPs: Gee and Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) (2009). Their second studio album, Oh! (2010) was later re-released as Run Devil Run (2010). Six months later, they released a third EP, Hoot (2010). The singles "Oh!", "Run Devil Run" and "Hoot" all claimed the top spot on the Gaon Digital Chart.

A Japanese version of "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)", credited as "Genie", was Girls' Generation's first Japanese-language release, which peaked at number four on the Oricon Singles Chart. A Japanese version of "Gee" was also released, reaching number one on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart, making Girls' Generation the first non-Japanese Asian girl group to do so.[3][4] They then released their first full-length Japanese studio album, Girls' Generation (2011), the highest-selling album in history by a Korean girl group in Japan.[5] Their first original Japanese song, "Mr. Taxi", which was released as a double A-side single with a Japanese version of "Run Devil Run", reached number one on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. Girls' Generation's third Korean and fourth studio album, The Boys (2011), produced a Korean version of "Mr. Taxi" and another number one single, "The Boys". Repackaged versions of the third and fourth studio albums were released as The Boys (2011) and Mr. Taxi (2011), respectively.

Girls & Peace (2012), the group's second Japanese album and fifth overall, was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). The album brought forward a Japanese version of "Oh!", as well as "Paparazzi" and "Flower Power"; all of which reached the top ten on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. Girls' Generation's sixth studio album, I Got a Boy (2013), was preceded by a remake of Duffy's "Mercy", titled "Dancing Queen", which debuted at number two on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. The follow-up single, "I Got a Boy" debuted at number one on Billboard K-Pop Hot 100, with over one million digital sales according to the Gaon Chart.[6] "Love & Girls",[7] "Galaxy Supernova",[8] and "My Oh My",[9] all singles from the group's seventh studio album, Love & Peace (2013),[10] were released throughout the year.

In April 2015, the single "Catch Me If You Can" was released simultaneously in Japanese and Korean, a first for the group. It also marks the first release since former member Jessica left the group. In August 2015, the group released their fifth Korean studio album Lion Heart (2015), which produced three singles: "Party", "Lion Heart", and "You Think". A year later, the group released a single titled "Sailing (0805)", in celebration of their ninth anniversary.[11][12]
