George of the Jungle (Season 2) is an animated television series for children aged 6 to 12 years. It was co-produced in 2015 by Singapore-based August Media Holdings and Yowza Dgital of Canada. Revival series is based on the original animated series produced in 1967 by Jay Ward and Bill Scott and later remade by Teletoon in 2007.

Revival series takes a new look at George. The show has been redesigned and redeveloped by producer Jyotirmoy Saha of August Media Holdings^[1][2](who has also produced the popular children’s animated series Ella Bella Bingo). Everything you love about George is still here, just louder and prouder. The new and improved George of the Jungle is an outrageous, irreverent, family friendly stampede filled with gags galore, character-driven stories and roaring jungle action that will keep viewers of all ages panting for more.^[3]

As of April 2016, 52 episodes of George of The Jungle 2015 TV series have been produced and they have been sold in over 160 countries. The revival series is currently available in the US on Kabillion.

Background

The first George Of The Jungle animated series came out in 1967.^[4] 1997^[5] saw the release of the film George Of The Jungle and in 2007,^[6] another George Of The Jungle TV series was produced. Hilarious, irreverent and full of slapstick action, cartoon favourite George of the Jungle season 2 returns to take viewers on a wild ride off the deep end into animated insanity. Everything you love about George is here, just louder and prouder.

Plot

Like any proper jungle King, George is strong. George is pure of heart. And George is well...er... not very bright. George is a big-hearted, Jungle King who throws himself into his job like any teenage boy would – with boundless enthusiasm and reckless abandon.

George lives in a jungle filled with lions, anacondas, swarms of giant bees, skat-talking man eating plants and more. To top it all, there’s a whole array of evil villains gunning for George and his beloved wilderness. From the great hunters Tigertitherage and Weevilplumtree, who love nothing more than to mount George above their fireplace, to Dr. Chicago, a dentist-turned-even-more-evil-dentist to Edward Madmun, an English aristrocrat who loves fiendish schemes almost as much as high tea!

Riding herd over the craziest jungle on the planet means the insanity comes fast and furious. Thank the jungle spirits he has a few friends who can help him in his twisted adventures like George’s best buddy Ape, science-obsessed Ursula, headstrong huckster Magnolia, Howie the Howler Monkey, the bird-brained Tookie Tookie, and George’s overworked pachyderm, Shep. George’s screwball logic and ill-conceived plans lead him and his pals into ridiculous situations and crazy detours that drive everyone in the animal kingdom bananas. But in the end, George always rises above the mayhem and saves the day with bizarre George logic that twists expectations and delights audiences.

Characters

• George: The stories all agree that George was lost as a child and raised by nice fresh smelling apes. He lives waaay up high in a treehouse, but keeps forgetting that he does, and the sound of him crashing into the ground can be heard for miles and miles. But George is more than just a face-planting, vine-swinging man-ape. He is King of the Jungle. He has taken it upon himself to defend his jungle home, friends and animals against all threats. Like any proper Jungle King, George is strong. He is all heart. And he is dumb. Like really dumb. When George is confronted with a problem, he won’t just draw the wrong conclusion, he’ll draw the hilariously weird one. Thank the jungle spirits that he has a few friends who can help him.
• Ape: Ape is ....err...an Ape. And he is George’s best friend. Ape is never happier than when he is working side by side with George. One, because he believes that George is a good king. And two, because George really really needs help. Ape is very smart and craves intellectual stimulation, but instead spends a lot of his time, explaining things to George, like why you shouldn’t brush your teeth with lightening or why sending piranhas after the leeches you put down your loin cloth is a bad idea.
• Ursula: If George was raised in the jungle, Ursula is the jungle. Born to a lost tribe, Ursula is half feral and 100% jungle-awesome. She grew up in the trees, swam in the rivers and chased Tigers for fun. While George bridges the gap between the jungle and human worlds, Ursula doesn’t believe in bridges. Or toilets. Or toothbrushes. She eats grubs, berries and bugs from her hair, does her business behind trees and scratches herself with her feet. She believes that George is way too soft for the jungle, but then joins forces with him when the threat is too large ...or too silly.
• Magnolia: Magnolia is not native to the jungle – that’s pretty easy to tell as she’s the only one on this show that has a Biology degree, hasn’t developed vine-swinging calluses and not named her intestinal parasites. Magnolia came to George’s jungle to study it, but stayed on because she fell in love...with the jungle. She only likes George as an experimental friend. Magnolia has a scientific mind and an insatiable curiosity, two traits that result in a short but exciting life.
• Witch Doctor: It is said that he doesn’t move through the jungle, the jungle moves through him. He can make it rain UP, dim the sun like an Ikea lamp and hear the secrets of the jungle through the rustling of its leaves. At least that’s the story he pays the monkeys to spread.The witch doctor is a businessman and he follows the money. This means that on some days he’ll help George, on others get in his way – depends on who’s paying.
• Tiger Titherage and Weevil Plumtree: This pair of villainous hunters have travelled the planet stalking the rarest game. But, since hunting’s fallen out of fahion, this duo has taken to “acquiring”, which is fancy way of saying “catch and release”. Only they don’t do the “release’ part. They use net launchers, ridiculous traps and everything trick under the sun to catch George and the animals in the jungle.
• Dr. Chicago: He is a mad dental scientist who has set up a lab in a lovely cave on the West side of the jungle. If you want to find him, just follow the chilling sounds of a dentist’s drill whirring well into the night. and He look like a Dr. Scott.
• Shep and Tookie-tookie: George’s pets – Shep’s an elephant who thinks he’s a faithful Golden Retriever and Tookie-tookie is a bird with limited vocabulary who lets George know if there’s trouble in the jungle.
• Narrator: No one knows who the voice of the narrator is or why we can even hear him. Is he the voice of God? History? Buddha? Or Brad Pitt? What we do know is that his news anchor intonation and dry wit make him the perfect comedic way to pull us through the story.
