Frank Cipolla is an American television and radio news broadcaster.

Early life

Frank Cipolla grew up in Queens, New York where he graduated from[1] St. John's University. While attending college he worked on the university radio and TV stations and interned at WPIX-FM and WNBC (AM) in New York City.

Career

Upon graduation, Cipolla was hired at WCRV in Washington, NJ and later worked at WJDM[2] in Elizabeth, New Jersey. At both stations he served as news director. In July 1986 he was hired as the afternoon news anchor for the Soupy Sales Radio Show on WNBC.

In 1989, when WNBC’s frequency was sold to WFAN, Cipolla joined the all-sports station as its afternoon news anchor before moving into local television news. Cipolla launched the first live call-in news talk show at Time Warner Cable in Staten Island, and was hired at the newly launched News 12 New Jersey in March 1996. There Cipolla co-hosted the popular Morning Edition with Mizar Turdiu.

In April 2001, Cipolla was hired as a reporter at WWOR-TV in New York City, and later served as a fill-in anchor. He is currently a network news anchor at the Wall Street Journal Radio Network.[3] His twice-hourly reports can be heard on hundreds of stations coast to coast.

Cipolla's 2011 book It Shocked Even Us! is a comic memoir of his 30 years in radio and TV news.[4]

In April, 2005 Cipolla was inducted into the Christ the King High School Hall of Fame.[5]
