Fernando Fonseca (born 14 March 1997) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for FC Porto B as a right-back.

Club career

Born in Crestuma a former local parish in Vila Nova de Gaia, Fonseca began his development in 2007 when he joined the Boavista F.C. youth ranks. After two seasons with the Axadrezados he moved to FC Porto thus completing his formation. During this period he was also loaned for one year to Padroense F.C. which acted as Porto's under-16 squad.

While in the Juniors A (under-19 squad) the youngster and his teammates conquered two consecutive U19 Portuguese Championships under the guidance of coach and former Porto player António Folha. His contribution was praised by the media that described a enormous work capacity on the right flank and aggressiveness in ball disputes.[1]

In the beginning of the 2016–17 season, Fonseca was promoted to the FC Porto B side by manager Luís Castro. His professional debut arrived on 24 August 2016 in a 2–1 home win against SC Olhanense where he played the full match.[2] On 9 September 2016 the club announced a contract extension with the player until 2020, although no values of the termination clause were disclose.[3]
