History

FM 1378 was designated in 1949 from US 75 (now SH 5) to Forest Grove. In 1951, FM 1378 extended south to FM 544 (now FM 3412), replacing FM 1379 from Lucas to FM 544. In 1978, FM 1378 extended south to current FM 544. This extension was transferred from FM 544. It was changed to UR 1378 in 1995 by Texas Department of Transportation. In 2008, the section of FM 1378 between FM 2514 and FM 544 was removed from the state highway system and given to the City of Wylie. The removed segment has been widened to an urban multilane highway.[2]
