Dupadu is one of the major villages in Tripuranthakam mandal, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Dupandu is situated on Kurnool-Guntur state highway. It's history past stretches back to the days when it was ruled by the Mauryas from 250 B.C. The rise of the Satavahanas saw Buddhism flourish in the region. The Ikshvaku and Vijayanagar Kings, the Qutub Shahis and the Mughals later followed these rulers. Each of them left a distinct imprint on the cultural landscape of the distirct.

Agriculture

Most of the population of Dupadu is dependent on agriculture. In recent years some people have migrated to cities and towns to have businesses of their own.

Education

There are three elementary schools, one Urdu school and a ZPP High School. It also has A. P. Social Welfare Residential School/JR. College for girls.

Climate

Dupadu has a tropical climate. Summer season ranges from March to June, monsoon starts by July and ends up to September, and generally winter extends from October to February. During summer the temperature ranges between Max 43 °C and Min 26 °C, while in winter it ranges between Max 31 °C and Min 12 °C. Rainfall is seasonal receiving around 90 to 120 cm.

Notable Personalities

Mirza Ghouse Baig, M.A.LLB, Retd. District Judge. World War II Vetaran and Freedom Fighter having led the Air Force Mutiny against the British Rule in Ambala Cantonment. He was born in Dupadu to Mirza Raza Baig, Forest Ranger and studied till High School in Dupadu and Cumbum under the tutelage of Shri Narasayya, Principal. And then went on to do his Degree in the Hindu College, Machilipatnam and M.A.LLB at Aligarh.
