David "Dave" Robinson is an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1960s and 1970s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, England and Lancashire, and at club level for Folly Lane ARLFC (in Pendlebury), Swinton and Wigan, as a Second-row or Loose forward, i.e. numbers 11, 12 or 13 during the era of contested scrums. Dave attended Moorside Secondary Modern School in his hometown of Swinton, near Manchester.

International honours

Dave Robinson won a cap for England while at Swinton in 1969 against Wales,[1] and won caps for Great Britain while at Swinton in 1965 against New Zealand, in 1966 against France (2 matches), Australia (3 matches), New Zealand (2 matches), in 1967 against France (2 matches), Australia (2 matches), and while at Wigan in 1970 against Australia.[2] He was one of four Swinton players (plus Ken Gowers, Alan Buckley and John Stopford) who went on the 1966 Great Britain tour to Australasia.

County Cup final appearances

Dave Robinson played Loose forward/Lock in Swinton's 11-2 victory over Leigh in the 1969 Lancashire Cup final during the 1969–70 season at Central Park, Wigan on Saturday 1 November 1969, and played Right-Second-row, i.e. number 12, in Wigan 19-9 victory over Salford in the 1973 Lancashire Cup final during the 1973–74 season at Wilderspool Stadium, Warrington, on Saturday 13 October 1973.[3]

BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final appearances

Dave Robinson played Loose forward/Lock in Swinton's 2-7 defeat by Castleford in the 1966 BBC2 Floodlit Trophy final during the 1966–67 season at Wheldon Road, Castleford on Tuesday 20 December 1966.
