Aslam Pervaiz (his professional name) also known as Zia (1932 - 21 November 1984) was a Pakistani film actor. He had established himself as one of the finest villains of Pakistani film industry.[1]

Professional career

1950s

He had started his film career in film producer Anwar Kamal Pasha's film Qatil (1955) meaning Murderer as a side hero.[1] He appeared as a lead actor in film Paatay Khan opposite Noor Jehan. For two years, he appeared as a hero in Pakistani films but had little success. Later in 1958, his films Chhumantar and Sheikh Chilli (1958) were successful. Popular playback singer Zubaida Khanum acted in the film Paatay Khan with him. He achieved greater success in 1959 with film Koel opposite Noor Jehan and Neelo.[2] He appeared in a double role in this film. In the beginning of 1960, he first appeared as a villain in the movie Saheli (1960).[3] It was a highly successful musical film at the box-office.

1960s

In 1961, his popularity graph went down. His films as hero began to flop, he later appeared as side hero but in a less number of films. His films as a villain were more successful at the box office namely Daaman (1963) and Shikwa (1965).

Personal life

Aslam Pervaiz had a brother named Afzal who was married to the film producer Chaudhry Eid Muhammad's daughter. Chaudhry Eid Muhammad owned Rattan Cinema at Mall Road, Lahore, Pakistan.[1] Aslam Pervaiz himself was married to film actress Khawar Sultana.

Death

While coming from a shooting of a film, he was injured in a car accident and died because of that accident on November 21,1984.[1] Last Movie was Khuddar (1985).
