Abdul Ghafoor Khan Durrani (Pashto: عبدالغفور خان درانی ) (born 1910, date of death is 20 February 2000) was born in Quetta Balochistan British India, into the Bamizai Popalzai tribe, a sub clan of Durrani (Abdali) Pashtun of Quetta.
Political career
Abdul Ghafoor Khan Durrani was chief of Popalzai Durrani tribe in Balochistan and played a significant role in the Pakistan movement at the side of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Durrani, nicknamed "Khan Agha", brought Shahzada Rehmatullah Khan Saddozai chief of Sadozai Durrani tribe of Balochistan into Muslim League for an important role in Pakistan Independence movement. In November 1959 the Chairmen of all Union Committees within Quetta city became members of the Quetta Municipal Committee and Khan Abdul Ghafoor Khan Durrani was elected its 1st Vice Chairman, whereas the Quetta Political Agent remained its Chairman.[1] He has also been General Secretary of Anjuman e Islamia Quetta for a long time and worked for the betterment of the institutions being run under said Anjuman.
Family members
Khan Abdul Salam Khan Durrani, an advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan, and known politician, and chief of Popalzai Durrani tribe was his elder son. Abdul Satar Khan Durrani an active and brave advocate is his grandson and serving as Additional Advocate General in Balochistan Balochistan. In the recent scenario Abdul Qadoos Khan Durrani is chief of Popalzai Durrani tribes in Blochista and son of Abdul Qadoos Khan Durrani Doctor Muhammad Ishaq Khan Durrani is a very dedicated doctor of Bamizai (Popalzai/Durrani) tribe. He is famous for his kind conduct, attitude, support and dedication to the poor patients. Bamizai family members residing in Balochistan are the descendants of Wazir e Azam Shah Wali Khan Bamizai, who was one of a generals of Ahmed Shah Abdali. Presently sons of Bamizai tribe are prominent in different fields of life, Abdul Malik Durrani son of Muahammad Siqqique Khan Durrani,an Aitchisonian, who after doing CSS has been posted in Incom Tax department and presently doing as Additional Commissioner Incom Tax Department. Asad Khan Durrani son of Haji Ahmed Jan Durrani is serving as admin officer in POF Wah Cantt. Saeed Ahmed Khan Durrani son of Abdul Samad Durrani is a famous lawyer as well as takes active part in journalism. Dawood Khan Durrani son of Abdul Qayum Khan Durrani is doing as law officer in Anjuman e Islamia Balochistan. Abdul Wahab Khan Durrani son of Muhammad Siddique Khan Durrani is serving in Pakistan Army since 1991. He has taken part in various operations and in one of the operations he was seriously injured and later owing to his dedication and bravery, he was awarded with TAMGHA E BASALAT . Abdul Hannan Durrani son of Abdul Rauf Durrani is serving in Health department of Balochistan. Major Muhammad Idrees Durrani son of Abdul Rahim Durrani is also serving in Pakistan Army . Late Mohammad Anwar Khan Durrani Senator Government of Pakistan was his brother son and (Senior Civil Judge) Abdul Wahid Khan Durrani Shaheed son of Abdul Latif Khan Durrani embraced Shahadat as a result of bomb blast during the hearing of case in the court of Civil Judge Quetta February 2007. he was nephew of Senator Muhammad Anwer Khan Durrani.Hafiz Shehryar Durrani son of Muhammad Siddique Durrani is also working in Income Tax Department Quetta. Ishaq Durrani son of Abdul Quddus Durrani has done his M.B.B.S. and F.C.P.S. and is now working as a surgeon in Quetta Hospital. Mohammad Ali Durrani,son of Abdul Manan Khan Durrani, after spending many years in Karachi, is now an Islamic Scholar. Abdul Manan Khan Durrani,Son of Abdul Ghafoor Khan Durrani, is the General Secretary of Islamia College Quetta. Ahmed Shah Durrani, son of Abdul Malik Durrani, is currently doing his GCE O'Levels at Islamabad. Sinan Wali Durrani, son of Abdul Wahab Durrani, is currently doing his matriculation at Abbottabad and Waliullah Durrani brother of Sinan is Studying in the school of PMA kakul his best friend is M Talha brother of Ahmed Shah Durrani
